Summary: Symbol of true love and respect. Giving these tiny flowers represents a promise that you will always remember them forever, keep them in your thoughts, as well as they are associated with faithfulness. It was exactly what John wanted for Santino. To protect the person he loved so much from all the danger that followed John. It was a curse, destroying everything in anyone's lives, and he didn't wish for that to happen to Santino. A painful decision had to be made that broke a part of Santino, which John never saw before.

Note: Hello! I present an emotionally heavy fic! This one is special to me in many ways. There's angst, the push and pull that Santino and John have in their own ways, two people who want to protect each other, but both of them have different ways of doing it. Also, one of inspirations was that scene in one of my favorite animes Beastars after Riz ambushed Legoshi and later Jack came to help Legoshi out and they had that emotional talk. This is mostly written from John's POV, how he sees Santino, his inner monolog, the paragraphs for that are written in italics. I like to think that John is an observant person, that he listens carefully and remembers everything, even the small details. He's the quiet listener. That is important to Santino, in my headcanon he wasn't really listened to in his childhood, he was a disappointment in his father's eyes so this detail was very important.
I also look at John as someone who was raised to feel like he destroys everything. Taught to be a weapon, rather than a person. And wherever he goes, death and pain follows. Santino taught him to feel like a human, like a person, they were learning together, and John just wants to protect him. His way of protecting means distancing himself so that Santino would be safe, while Santino wants to find a solution together. And it's heartbreaking for both of them. Santino in my opinion is a person who hides his emotions, who was taught to push it down, keep it all in. Until he just... broke down for the first time in forever. Sooo yeah! This is gonna be very painful for both of them.
Another hc I have for Santino specifically, he likes flowers! He was helping his mother with flowers in their garden when he was younger. He just doesn't want anyone to know about this except John. And I love the forget-me-not flowers ^^. Also, Caravaggio being one of his favorite artists! Yeah, Riccardo Scamarcio played Caravaggio, which was also an inspiration but I also think Santino really likes his art. He is fond of art, just like we saw in the John Wick 2, he said he sees little more than just paint on canvas. So, that goes for his love for Caravaggio's artwork, too! ^^
I was projecting myself a lot into John here, and Santino (well, it's always mostly him, it's John turn now hehe). And I think I'm happy how this fic turned out! I really enjoyed writing it ^^. I was worried I wouldn't be able to finish anything for this month since I was in a difficult and unexpected situation with a disgusting flood in my home, and that really hit me hard, it was a difficult few weeks. I was actually working on another omegaverse mpreg Santino fic, but I felt the need to switch to write this one. I think I made the right decision since I really felt this fic emotionally while writing it (I have tears in my eyes)! :']
Also, I'm thinking about one day to write another part, possibly Santino's POV. To see through his eyes and explore how their relationship was, how Santino looks at John ;).

Sometimes, all it would take was a small mistake, meeting the wrong person, finding yourself in a bad place at bad timing. Whether you were the assassin or not. It didn't matter. Not in this world. Someone was always above.
It was quiet once again, all John could hear was his own breathing and the crickets playing their night music. He could taste the blood in his mouth, smell it, feel the air blowing, leaves rustling. It was too quiet after hearing his own bones breaking. His body felt hot, but the air kept sending shivers through his body, the grass and pebbles under his body felt like they were piercing through his suit, into his skin. The blindfold was still on him, blocking the view, his hands tied together. His consciousness was coming back to him, the adrenaline slowly fading away, memory coming back and making him feel everything.
I knew it was going to happen. A warning.
John thought, slightly moving his head, which sent a sharp pain down his neck, making him groan weakly. Then again, the iron taste in his mouth was starting to make him feel nauseous, the nasty punch in his face had more impact than he felt. He managed to roll onto his side to spit out blood, though it made him cough out more blood. It took him a few seconds to realize that his nose was bleeding, dripping down to his lips, down his chin.
I feel like they broke every bone in me. It was a strong message… for both me and Santino. That I need to stop being his guard dog. But I'm just glad it was me and not him.
It was painful, his head felt like it was throbbing from being slammed into a wall to black out, but even after all that, he was glad it wasn't Santino who got hurt. He coughed out more blood before he turned on his back, exhaling through his mouth, but even breathing hurt, like thousands of little shards were stabbing his lungs.
Santino… I need to call him. I need to warn him.
He tried to move his hands, they were tied on the front, so he could still use them. He was tied just enough to be beaten up and knocked unconscious. John brought his hands to his blindfold, managing to lift it so he could finally see. The night sky looked beautiful than ever, the stars were bright, everything looked more alive. A buzzing noise interrupted his half conscious daydreaming, it was his phone in his pocket. He shakily reached for his pocket, still disoriented and hands tied, but he still managed to grab it. The screen was cracked, the caller's name was Santino and John desperately tried to click on the call button. He cursed at himself as the call stopped, the damn phone was too damaged on that side of the screen to pick up John's touch.
Fuck… no… I have to call him back. He's probably pissed off that I didn't answer.
Santino would get a bit snappy if John didn't answer him, especially after serious missions. John knew it was out of worry, something Santino struggled to admit, so he was showing it in his own way that John learned and accepted.
He pushed himself up, groaning from the pain shooting through his whole body. The tape around his wrists felt so tight, it started burning his skin as he tried to tear it off, twisting his wrist. It didn't work that well, so he used his teeth. Fuck, it hurt like hell, but he had to push through the pain. Blood stained the tape from his mouth, his jaw hurt from biting down, his whole face hurt, but the sheer will was stronger than the pain. He cut through the tape with his teeth, blood dripping down his mouth as the tape cut into his gums, triggering the injury he already had. The blood trailed down his hands as the remaining tape stayed on his wrist, but at least he wasn't tied anymore. He cursed again, spitting the blood to his side, breathing heavily, the dizziness made him pause for a moment to breathe through it.
His car. He looked over at it, parked on the side, untouched. Thankfully, it was still there, just like he left it and the little thing that meant so much was still inside.
Yeah. It was just a message for me. For now… it was just for me.
John tried to call Santino back, desperately pressing on the broken screen. It picked up his touch after a few attempts, he clicked on his name, then spent another couple of tries to get it to register his touch.
“C'mon…” He muttered, pressing again, but a blood speck that fell on the screen made him pause. Dammit, his nose kept bleeding, he wiped it off with his hand, tracing his fingers over his upper lip, his fingers came back covered in more blood. He couldn't lose his focus, he pressed a few more times on the screen and finally he managed to call Santino. He lifted the phone to his ear, hearing the first low beep that sounded longer than it usually was. It repeated again, just two times before Santino picked up.
“John! Where are you? I've looked everywhere, I sent Ares–”
His voice. I can hear it tremble even if he's trying so hard to sound pissed. He's worried. Worried for me.
“Hey… it's okay,” John interrupted him hoarsely, his voice quieter than usual. He cleared his throat and swallowed the blood that was mixed with saliva before he started talking again. “Something just… didn't go as planned.”
Santino was quiet on the other side, until he murmured curses in Italian, John could hear him walking, it went from the sound of the floor, to grass.
“Tell me where you are,” D'Antonio demanded, but John could tell he was trying to keep his voice controlled.
John exhaled slowly, closing his eyes briefly. He didn't even check if anyone was around. What if there was someone waiting for Santino to come and then get killed? What if they were watching him right now while he was on the phone with him? It wasn't safe.
“John,” Santino said sharply, it was a warning and it snapped John out of his worries. “Tell me right now because if I have to search deeper, people won't survive it.”
I know you're angry. I know you'll kill people. But I don't want to lose you.
John stood up with a grunt of effort, taking a first step which hurt a lot. He looked around, no one was outside at this hour, the bakery that held special memories with him and Santino was closed. The flagpole hardware nearby kept clattering against the metal from the wind, which John didn't even register at first.
“I… I can't–”
I can't risk your life for mine.
“I know where you are,” Santino cut him off, sounding more calm, like he was thinking. He was walking again, the sound of his footsteps on the gravel, until there was the sound of the car's door opening and closing. “And you better stay there. You sound like you're going to pass out.”
Of course, he was stubborn, but John loved that side of him.
“Santino…” John got interrupted with his own cough, blood splattering onto the grass as he coughed to the side. “Bring someone with you… it's too dangerous like this.”
Please, listen to me… I can't protect you from this distance.
There was the car’s engine noise, Santino cursing in Italian. “Just stay where you are. Don't move. You hear me?”
Dammit, Santino…
“Answer me,” Santino repeated more gently.
There was a beat of silence, John tightened his free hand into a fist, nails digging into his skin, his knuckles hurting from squeezing so hard.
“Yeah.” That was all John said. He knew he couldn't talk Santino out of this, he recognized that persistence and when Santino was like that, there was no way of stopping him.
“I'll be right there,” D'Antonio said before he hung up.

Summary: It was just another day for the pregnant Camorra prince, Santino. Forming a family wasn't that easy if you're part of the High Table. He was still the Camorra boss, and John still had to work. Santino helped take care of John's injuries, overworking himself even if he was being told to take it easy. The stress left them both with consequences, and the only way they could make it better was with taking care of each other.

Note: Hello!! It's my birthday, I'm 21! To celebrate, here is mpreg Santino fic!! I was so excited about this one, it's been a while since I wrote mpreg hehe! I was working on a different fic before, Santino losing an eye fic (will be posted eventually one day, when I continue it), but it got too emotionally heavy for me to continue it, so I switched to a comforting fic instead! And I really enjoyed writing this one ^^. Pregnant Santino is still a workaholic, he's trying to learn how to properly rest. Dog kept him company and got even more spoiled ;]. John tries to help Santino relax, but as you can see, not even pregnancy can stop Santino from stitching John's wounds. They're both so stubborn in their own ways, but they have each other! Their baby probably won't be much different either, already showing signs of their personalities lmao! There could be an extra fic or like a few months later, so we could see Santino in his third trimester, and who knows what else will happen to them both by then X). Just some ideas I have! Also, the last scene was like a little bonus, trying to bond with the baby :3.

It had been hours since John left for a mission. The last time Santino saw him was in the morning when he got hugged, told that he'd be gone for a few hours and that he had to eat in the meantime, he even prepared him some food. Classic John ever since Santino became pregnant. His early pregnancy wasn't easy on him, and he struggled with nausea and getting cravings that would make him feel nauseous. It was all a mess, but in this case it was a mess he had to take care of.
Santino was just resting in bed after he woke up again. It was 10 am, and he still tried to fall asleep again, but was unsuccessful. Being five months pregnant really started to affect his sleep schedule that was already bad even before pregnancy. He felt so warm and cozy, covered with the sheets, hugging a pillow, Dog was keeping him company, curled up by his legs, making them both even more lazier from how comfortable they felt. This morning didn't bring morning sickness, but rather hunger. So, he muttered little complaints to himself, and decided to get up. John's shirt was a little too big for him, but he wore it since it had his scent and it would bring him comfort. It covered the swell of his belly perfectly, it felt better and like he could breathe properly. He loved John's shirts.
He checked his phone first, the first thing he saw was John's message.
“Text me when you're awake.”
Santino smiled tiredly and typed a reply.
“I just got up. Will make myself breakfast now.”
He sent it, but worry wouldn't let him rest that easily.
“Are you okay? Mission going well?”
He sent another message, just to be sure. It would sometimes take longer for replies, which he was aware of, but he hoped for a reassuring reply.
“Let's see what's for breakfast,” he murmured to Dog, who followed him with a wagging tail.
Slowly making his way to the kitchen, he noticed a loaf of bread still on the bag, a plate with fork and butter knife on it and a small note on the counter. Santino smiled to himself, picking up the note.
“I cut you fruits, the ones you like and they're in a bowl, in the fridge. There's fresh food in the fridge too and bread if you want. If you're having morning sickness, eat something lighter, stay hydrated and rest. Don't overwork yourself. I'll come back, might take a bit longer, but don't worry it'll be okay. I love you.”
Santino loved these little notes, even if he felt embarrassed admitting it, he would keep them in his drawer. He brushed his hand over his belly, already feeling better from reading the comforting words. The note will be settled with the rest later, now he was curious about the fruit John mentioned.
He opened the fridge, immediately seeing the cut pieces of fruit in a plastic bowl with a lid on. Fruit was his craving lately, but not every fruit, of course. He took the bowl out and opened it. There were strawberries, mango pieces, grapes, the big juicy ones, pineapple pieces and peach slices. It was everything he needed to have at home, since this specific craving would hit out of nowhere. His mouth was salivating just from looking at it, but he would have them a bit later. Now, he really wanted scrambled eggs, toasted bread with melted butter and cheese on top, not grilled cheese but like “half way there” grilled cheese. That sounded perfect. He gathered his ingredients, and started preparing them.
Dog sat nearby, watching him work, but also watching if anything would accidentally fall on the floor, so he could quickly “clean” it up. Santino noticed him, and heard quiet whines as he put a loaf of bread in the toaster.
D'Antonio chuckled at him. “If you'll be good, you might get a little bit of cheese. Okay? And we don't mention that to John.”
Dog whined and tilted his head, tail thumping lazily against the floor. Santino took that as an agreement, a little secret between them.
The kitchen started smelling nicely, he whisked three eggs and poured them in the pan. Just when he looked over a package of cheese, another wonderful idea came to his mind. Cheese in scrambled eggs. So he mixed the cheese with eggs, and just in time his toast was done. He smeared butter over it, then placed a slice of cheese so it would melt, and returned back to working on eggs. The breakfast was almost done, and he was getting hungrier just by making it.
After a few minutes, he served everything on the plate that John left for him. It looked perfect, he was a good cook and pregnancy couldn't stop him in that. Not even in some creative combinations, such as pasta with tomato sauce but crackers with it also sounded appealing to him. There was one time John found him eating slices of mozzarella with slices of tomatoes but also an American snack Santino swore he would never touch. This breakfast at least wasn't something that would make his stomach hurt.
It felt a bit lonely eating alone by the table, no matter how much Santino was used to it due to John's and his life, but pregnancy probably amplified that feeling. Well, he wasn't actually alone, Dog was with him, sitting next to him on the floor, keeping a watch with the biggest puppy eyes.
“Let me at least eat first,” Santino murmured, cutting a piece of the scrambled eggs. He took a bite off the toast and then the eggs, it was a really delicious cheese flavor that hit the right spot. His pet made a low whine and lay down, patiently waiting and like he understood his owner, gave him space to eat. Sometimes, Santino wondered if Dog could really understand him, or if John just trained him well.
The toast and eggs disappeared quickly. It was a good, protein-rich meal, just what he needed. He felt proud of how well he made it, too. There was one last small piece of the toast that he was about to finish, but Dog caught his attention. It made his heart swell the way Dog was just looking, lazily wagging his tail, and the way his eyes appeared watery really did it for Santino.
“Alright, alright…” He mumbled. “You can have it. Just don't cry about it.” He gave the last piece to his pet, who chewed on it happily. Well, now he looked happy, no more “tears” in his eyes. Santino huffed a soft laugh, petting his head before he stood up to clean the plate and the counter.
“You're dramatic, huh? Is that because you and I have spent more time lately?” He asked jokingly as he worked on cleaning.
His four legged companion shaked his body, tail upright and wagging as he passed by his legs, glancing up to see what his owner was doing.
“I thought so.” Santino took that as an agreement, smiling down at him. “Ah, I did promise you cheese.” He was just about to put it back in the fridge, but Dog didn't forget about the promise.
Santino cut a small piece of cheese, hearing Dog whine excitedly. “You were good, I hope you stay that way today.” He handed it to his pet and the piece was gone in a second. “I'll take you out after I finish everything here.”
Walks were something that Santino started enjoying more. John, him and Dog, going for walks or playing fetch with their pet in their backyard. It was relaxing, it helped get their minds off their worries. Just what Santino needed now.
He went to change into his daily clothes, just a basic shirt, zip-up hoodie and comfortable pants that wouldn't squeeze around his belly. Another thing that pregnancy brought as it progressed was not being able to wear waistcoats, pants with belts or… any of his usual clothes for that matter. It was annoying when he noticed the first time, and it was when he needed to go for a meeting. It was a disaster, he almost had a full breakdown, but luckily, John was at home to help him calm down and find a solution. He went without a waistcoat that day, and later on he complained to John how he felt naked without it. But he survived. At home, he allowed himself to dress comfortably.
“C'mon. I don't think I can go for a longer walk today,” he said to Dog as he put a leash on him. “I'm tired… and my back started hurting.” He let out a quiet groan as he straightened up, rubbing over the small of his back.
Slower and shorter walks worked just fine. Dog wasn't pulling on the leash, following Santino's pace, stopping to do his business, but also sniffing around. It was a sunny day, spring brought its warmth and natural beauty. The air smelled fresh and sweet from the flowers blooming nearby. It made Santino smile to himself. After Dog stopped to sniff at a tree, D’Antonio checked his phone in hopes of seeing John's reply, but nothing, it had been an hour, almost two since his message. He knew this was normal, but their world was unpredictable. John was more than capable of taking care of himself, taking out the most skilled assassins, but fear about losing him, about a mission going wrong, wouldn't leave Santino alone. Especially not during pregnancy. They talked about this when they found out he was pregnant, they knew what they were putting themselves in, and John promised that he won't let anyone hurt him or their baby, no one will hurt them as a family.
I hope everything's okay. That he… didn't get hurt badly.
Santino thought as he continued the walk.
After walking halfway from their home, they decided to return, Dog seemed to agree.
Summary: Santino and John decided to spend a few days at the Continental hotel after an exhausting mission. Their stay turned into something far more sweeter and heated up with whipped cream, chocolates and very creative ways to relax.

Note: Hello! It's been a little while since I posted a fic, but here is a sweet and wild one! I think it fits for February, and it was something my friend mentioned to me before and gave me an idea about whipped cream. So here it is, their relaxing at the Continental with whipped cream and other fun things ;). This is also kinda like a small gift to myself, I've been through a lot lately, things are heavy on me, and I wanted to see them relaxed and happy together. They're basically the definition of idiots in love. They deserved to rest, and I felt happy for them while writing. They understand each other the way no one else can, it's something beautiful about them, in my opinion. Also, Santino tolerating meat lovers pizza and beer only because he loves John so much ;). Well, they had fun, but Winston didn't. But he still has a soft spot for them, he just shows it in his own way. Santino used to annoy him, but ever since John started dating the Camorra prince, he knew he had to start liking Santino more. So while he's slowly getting to used to him, Santino and John almost ruined his best room in the hotel X).
These two rarely get any peace, and when they get it, they have to use it. And they love each other so much they're eating whipped cream off each other hehe :].

The Continental hotel sounded more comfortable than ever after a mission that caused more blood to be spilled and the crash of adrenaline afterward was exhausting.
Santino already prepared everything while John was taking a short rest, he didn't even notice the bags, couldn't even process them until he felt a peck on his forehead and heard soft murmurs coming from his partner.
“Do you want me to check your injury before we leave?” Santino asked softly, running his fingers through John's hair.
“No, it's fine. It's bruises, they'll heal,” John explained, his voice hoarse from tiredness.
Santino nodded, giving John enough space to get up.
“You sure you don't want to change your suit? It has blood on it…” Santino noted.
“Winston's used to it. I'll change there.” John cupped his face as he stood up, pressing a deep kiss on his lips.
Yeah, Winston already knew what to expect when he got a call from John to order a room for a few days. It wasn't just any room, but the best one in the whole hotel. It was a luxury that they decided to reward themselves with.
It had been a while since Santino and John visited the Continental, so it felt good to be here for a change. They didn't bother with other assassins' looks, though people here never dared to ask anything, just curiously looking.
“Gentlemen,” Winston greeted them both in the lobby.
“Winston,” John greeted. They both shook hands with the manager.
“I'm assuming your mission went well.” Winston glanced John, noticing the blood stains on his suit.
“It did.” John nodded.
“Will medical assistance be needed?” The manager looked at both of them.
“No, we have a medical kit packed if we'll need it,” Santino replied, having his smug face on and John knew what it meant. Winston still needed a little more time to fully get used to Santino being with John, and there was a little bit of dislike from the past between the manager and the Camorra prince that John knew about, but since Winston respected John a lot, he was in his own way getting used to Santino.
“It's nothing serious,” John added. “We'll be fine. Thank you.”
Winston nodded, pulling out the key card. “Alright then. This is your key card for your room, it's on the top floor. If there's anything you'll need, feel free to let me know.”
They thanked him once again and took the lift to their room. None of them were in that room before, so they were both curious about it. It was the only room on that floor, which was perfect for them.
Santino unlocked the door with the key card and immediately got amazed by how beautiful the room looked. It was actually very aesthetically pleasing, which was an important detail for Santino, obviously. It had nice dark grey and white tones on the walls, dark curtains, really felt like a perfect atmosphere for them.
“Looks like most of the budget went into this room,” Santino chuckled, looking around.
“It's nice, yeah. Different from any of the other rooms I was in.” John settled the bag near the big bed. There was a TV on the wall in front of it, there was a kitchen like part of the room with a counter, a sofa was also near the bed.
“We have a hot tub," Santino called from the bathroom. John smiled to himself, hearing how enthusiastic his partner sounded about this.
“That's great. You'd wanna use it?” John asked, hugging him from behind and kissing his head.
“We are absolutely using it,” Santino declared, melting into John's touch.
John hummed in agreement, scanning through the bathroom. There was a shower as well, considering everything he'd been through today, he couldn't wait to take a shower.
Other than wanting a shower, they were both hungry and they had access to room service.
“You want meat lovers pizza? Out of all the other ones?” Santino asked, checking the menu while John was getting undressed.
“Yeah, it's been a long day. I'm starving,” John said, wincing a little as he took off his shirt. Even with a bullet proof suit, the bullets would leave painful bruises. All of that drained his energy and left his body craving something to eat to regain that energy.
“I didn't know you liked that pizza,” Santino murmured, silently judging, but he actually liked to tease John about any food related to Italy. As far as he knew, meat lovers pizza was just an American invention, and to him, it sounded disgusting.
John could feel the teasing and even the judgment not only in his voice but in his eyes. He huffed a soft laugh, tossing the shirt on the couch.
“I know, I know. I'm just really hungry,” the assassin murmured and kissed his temple. “What will you have?”
“I wanted to have pasta but I think I'll have that for dinner. You influenced me with pizza… I'll have the mortadella one. So you can taste an actual Italian pizza,” Santino mocked playfully, nudging his head against his. His eyes caught the marbling forming on John's body. The red spots where the bullets hit, bruises forming faster on some places, faint little cuts. “Does it hurt?” He asked softly, caressing over a bruise on John's chest.
“No, I'm alright. Just tired.”
“Be honest.”
John knew he couldn't hide things like this from his partner anymore, it was just an old habit that was hard to shake off.
“Nothing I'm not used to. Just aches a little,” he explained, kissing into his hair.
“I can massage you later if you want to,” Santino offered, it was almost like a routine now. Every time after a mission, Santino would massage him to help him relax.
“Thank you, love.” Santino earned another kiss into his hair, before the Camorra prince tilted his head for a kiss on his lips, which he got.
John went to take a shower, and meanwhile Santino unpacked some of their stuff. Med kit was placed on the counter, he settled John's dirty clothes to give to the room service. He also admired the room a little more, he noticed the scented candles on the counter, they were vanilla scented, which he loved.
