hi! this is a list of ideas i had for nier automata i wanted to share with you, and id like it if you’d shared your thoughts on it. sorry for using submission, askbox won’t let me use list format, and another apology for the idea list being all human stuff.

1) The first interaction between an Android and the human. I had different ways this could work: Android encounters human, and mistakes them for another Android. An Android stumbles upon the human, who is greatly injured. A2 accidentally injures the human, mistaking them for a YoRHa assassin. An Android discovers an injured human, but its too late and they succumb to their injuries.
- I think this is a very realistic response, especially from A2 who is being targeted for assassination by YoRHa command. Perhaps she would come across this human and be initially confused - they’re not coming up with the usual readings on her HUD. Their internal heat levels are all wrong and there’s no Black Box signals. Unfortunately, by the time they’re injured and she realises that it’s blood they’re spilling and not typical internal fluids, they’re dead and she’s left internally going, “Shit, shit, shit!” at her own mistakes. I think the guilt of it might weigh quite heavily on her, given her own programming and that she knows that the humans are to be protected. In a way, killing this human makes her no better than the machines she seeks out to fight. It sounds like here you’ve actually got a really nice ficlet idea, you could probably make it into something!
2) The reactions of Androids about the discovery of living humans. Most likely, everyone would be freaking out.
- Perhaps they find them in stasis, something akin to the Protheans (I think that’s how its spelled) in Mass Effect if you’ve played it, except they’re alive. 9S could figure out how to get them out and then 2B and him are left at a loss at what to do. The Commander is stunned - humans are supposed to be extinct and yet here they are, and the human is equally at a loss. Years and years have passed and yet their Earth is overrun with machines I think on both ends there would be a lot of drama and upset, but it would also be somewhat heartwarming in that the androids realise they really do have something to fight for.
3) Slice of life stuff. Like, the adjustment of living with Androids, the Androids comforting them when they get depressed over being the last human. If the human is male, his reaction to YoRHa being mostly composed of attractive females.
- This has a lot of potential as an idea! I’m so amused at the last line, I don’t think 2B would be too concerned but to this human male, it would probably seem quite strange to have all these beautiful androids running around kicking ass! I think there could be a lot of mutual teaching on both ends here. The human teaching the androids about customs such as birthdays or simply eating certain things at different times of years, while the androids discuss what it’s like to be a specific model made for a specific purpose, programmed with certain personality types. Maybe they’d find a lot of common ground - after all, we as humans tend to fall into specific personality types, and humans also study to be proficient in subjects. In ways, they’re not so different at all!
4) Instead of finding a single human, the Androids find several. Or better yet, the Androids discover a baby.
- I’M JUST IMAGINING 9S AND 2B TRYING TO LOOK AFTER A SMALL BABY AHHHH 2B is extremely concerned that they won’t stop screaming (”Are you in pain? Please, tell me what’s wrong!”) while 9S is super stressed and getting really desperate for them to stop. It’d probably be very strange to them that the baby would grow and need constant sustenance. 21O on the other hand...she’s thrilled. Someone get her to Earth immediately because she has a baby to take care of and goddamn she is going to be the best mother in the whole world. 6O would probably be pretty enamoured as well, like “Oh man 2B, that thing is ADORABLE. Huh?! Why’d it just spill...uh...sick? Is that sick? Is it ill? Oh no, it’s ill! Quick 2B! Do something!”
If they found several humans, I think the androids would be surprised at how similar they are to each other. They form similar relationships, enjoy nice things, have fun, and yet still do their duties. It makes me wonder if they would start to wonder just how human they are too, and I wonder if romance or friendships between androids and humans may occur too!
Thanks for sharing your ideas! I don’t have a lot of time to do fic unfortunately (Student life, sobs) but you have some really great concepts here and I hope you enjoyed my thoughts on them! If you wanna do something with the ideas, absolutely feel free! I reckon they have a ton of potential :D
