Kylo understood what you told him earlier, that being you being a premature baby, but it never really set in for him. He knew about eye sight issues, breathing issues, communication issues, etc.
But once he saw the pictures, his heart melt.
Seeing you with tubes and seeing how small you were compared to your father’s hand made him really see how small you were. He was use to being taller and wider - just over all bigger - compared to everyone else, but now looking at you, he noticed how tiny you were compared to the standard person.
He became a little protective of you for a sweet second, that being making sure your breathing and eating well and that no one was too harsh with you. You had to sit him down and explain you did this your whole life there was nothing to worry about.
Sometimes at night as he lays beside you, he’ll take your hand and compare it to his. He’ll make a silly comment of “You are still so tiny” followed up with kisses. 
Things did turn back to normal by the end of the month, but it does warm your heart about how much he really does care about you.
