No one's ever had me (not like you)
Lena’s mind flickers with anticipation. Kara said she would pick her up before they head to the auditorium for the audition. Normally she’d regret having offered this kind of help.
As Lena steps out of the classroom, she spots Kara standing just down the hall, leaning casually against a locker with James Olsen beside her. Kara is animated, gesturing as she talks, her letterman jacket slipping slightly off one shoulder. It’s the Kara she’s used to seeing. Aglow with some otherworldly spirit.
Her hair is down. It isn’t usually. It suits her.
James stands next to her, towering and calm as ever, his easy smile never far from the surface. They look like the picture-perfect high school couple. Lena knows she has no good reason to be irritated by it.
Kara catches sight of Lena and waves, her face lighting up as she walks over. James follows her, nodding in greeting.
It’s a little weird. Being acknowledged by National City High’s basketball superstar. Lena hasn’t really spoken to him, ever. But she’s had the ‘pleasure’ of being targeted by many of his teammates.
“Hey,” Kara says, her voice bright, though there’s a slight tension behind her eyes that Lena can’t quite place. “Ready to go?”
Lena nods, giving them both a small smile. “Yeah. Let’s get this over with.”
