Renji gave the other a pitiful stare, eyebrows knitted together in a frown. The sheer amount of pressure put on such a young mind and body had to be have been immensely difficult.
"Maybe it'd be good to learn how to say no." Meant without a hint of sarcasm or mockery. Ichigo seemed to be the type that liked to be depended on, and liked to offer their help when necessary, but surely this couldn't be good for their health, in general.
"My guy, ya deserve a break."
That makes him snort and he slants Renji a smirk. “Yeah? When’s the last time you told Byakuya no?” He rolls his eyes, sure he knows the answer to that question. Only once. “I’m not exactly doing this for fun.”
And yeah, it’s different. It’s Renji’s job. Ichigo’s practically a volunteer.
Still, he appreciates the concern more than he’s willing to say. “Is that why you guys are always trying to get me to go drinking?” Well, mostly Rangiku. And Ikkaku.
