Ok so, since you guys LOVED THIS SO MUCH I AM MAKING MORE. So yeah, I am going to make more art and fics so just to tell y'all before I do. Ok let’s do this. — As Star swam up to the place where the land and water met, she started to feel her heart rate go up. ‘What if he’s not there? What if he doesn’t like me? What if…’ But Star’s thoughts depleted as she saw a shadow above the water. ‘Marco!’ She thought. As she broke to the surface she saw indeed, it was her new, half-deer best friend. “Star! There you are! I’ve been waiting for you!” He said with a smile. “Sorry!” She replied. “It’s pretty far to get here from my castle!” Marco shook his head. “It’s fine! I don’t care that you’re late, I’m just excited to get to see the world under water! I accidentally came here at 5am thinking you would be here…” Star laughed as did Marco. That’s one of the things they loved about each other. Their tiny quirks that made them different. “So! Are you ready?” She asked. “You know I am!” He answered. “Just to warn you… This hill is very steep below me.” “Ok.” Marco grasped Star’s hand as he stepped into the water. He then lost his grace and slipped. “Whoa!!” He yelled as he fell in with a splash. “Marco!!” Star exclaimed as she dove down after him. As she expected, there he was, kicking his deer legs trying his best to swim. Star took out her wand and used a reversal of the spell she used on herself yesterday. “AIRTIGHT BUBBLE BLOW!” She yelled as she pointed her wand at Marco. A blast of bubbles came out of the wand and swarmed around Marco, just as they did to her yesterday. As the bubbles cleared, she saw a bubble around Marco’s head, just like the one she had around her head, but this time, it’s full of air, not water. Marco coughed and gasped for air as he found the bubble surrounding his head. “I’m so sorry Marco! I should’ve been watching you more car-” she was cut off as Marco regained his ability to speak. “Nono, Star. It’s…*cough* my fault. I should’ve been more careful with where my hooves were.” Star slowly swam down with Marco as he sank lower and lower. Finally, they got to a point where they started to see the underwater kingdom. “Whoaaa…” Marco said as the tall, multi-seashell castle came into view. “Is that where you live?” He asked, pointing to the glorious castle. Star looked at it for a moment before letting out a huge smile. “Yeah, it is. I love it there! It’s so spacious and big I can swim around the halls and practice new spells!” Then her smile depleted and turned to a frown. “Not that mother would ever let me do that…” “Is there a place we can go where you can do those things?” Marco asked. Star stared into his big brown eyes and felt her scales flutter. “Y-yeah, actually, there is. I go there every day, after I go up to the water front, of course.” “Yes!” Marco said as his stomach growled. “But, maybe we could find a dinner first?” Star laughed as Marco started to blush. “I’m being serious!” He shouted. Star’s laughter got louder and finally, her spread-like-wildfire laugh got to Marco and they laughed together the rest of the way. As they neared the bottom, Marco’s legs started kicking, grasping for the ground. As they had touchdown, Marco smiled and said “feels good to have solid ground under my hooves again.” Star giggled at his little comment as Marco started kicking the ground, getting a feel for the sand. “Don’t worry Marco, the best bakery in the kingdom is in this village.” Star looked around then spotted a golden-yellow seashell building. “There it is!” She exclaimed as she pointed to the building. “Uh… Which one?” Star sighed as she gripped Marco’s shirt and pulled him to where his face was pressed to hers. She pointed to the building again and said “THAT one.” Suddenly, Star felt Marco’s face grow hot and his ears started to twitch around. Star took a second to realize what she had done. “Oh! I’m…um…sorry. I shouldn’t invade your space like that.” She let him go while she was talking and Marco looked as if he had been woken from a trance. “Uh…um…sorry.” The two blushed and stared at the ground until Star looked up and smiled. “One of the things you got from the spell I cast on you is that you can run like you could on land.” Her smile grew misgevrious as she said “you still wanna race?” Marco stared for a moment and then realized what she meant. “Yeah, I’m down.” As they got into position, Star put racing goggles on. Marco had seen them that morning when she swam up, but she looked even cuter with them on. His ears began to twitch and he turned away. Both shouted in unison to start the race. “On your mark, get set, GO!” Star swam as fast as she could with Marco sprinting barely an inch behind. Star pulled ahead and made it to the bakery first. “How…did…you…do that?” He asked, in between breaths. “Mermaid.” Star said as she smiled proudly. Star pushed open the door to the bakery and swam in. The mermaid behind the counter was an older lady, her gray hair up in a messy bun. She had an apron over her white, long sleeve shirt and smiled when Star came in. “Star, my dear! There you are!” Star smiled and the mermaid and replied “hello Amy!” Amy then shifted her gaze to Marco, who just happens to have tripped on the step coming in. “Who’s this young deer fellow?” She asked. “Amy, this is Marco! Marco this is Amy, the owner of the bakery!” Marco waved hello and Amy waved back. “So Hun, you want the usual?” “Yes please!” Star replied, bouncing up and down and the counter. “Cash or…” “Cash!” Star answered while magicking up some money. Amy nodded then went back into a room. Amy then came back out with two donuts on a plate. “Jelly filled, just the way you like them!” She said as Star clapped her hands. “Thank you!” Star said as she took the donut and handed Amy the money. Marco took the donut Star didn’t, and thanked Amy as well. As they left the bakery, Marco but into his donut. He froze. Star stopped too, seeing her friend had seized to move. “Marco?” Star asked. “You ok?” Marco turned his head to Star and said “this is the best pastry I have EVER had.” Star laughed and devoured her donut along with Marco. When they finished their donuts, they laughed at all the jelly on each other’s faces. They went through the village, slowly going closer to the castle where Star lived. “I want to be honest here,” she said “I actually lied about being that fast is apart of being a mermaid. What’s a jog to you is hard to get to that speed for some mermaids out there. But not me. I am one of the fastest mermaids in the kingdom!” Marco stared at Star and she felt regret. ‘It was a mistake telling him’ she thought 'this was a BIG mistake, Star’ “'fastest mermaid in the kingdom’? Really?!” Marco asked, a smile spreading on his face. “Um…yeah. One of the fastest.” “That is so COOL. Do you run races?! You do, don’t you! I bet that’s where you got your goggles from!” Star was surprised at how much her friend knew. She blushed. She didn’t know why, she just did. “Y-yeah! I do race actually! A lot! I have tons of gold medals too! I win a lot of my races, and I go up against a lot of older mermaids!” Star smiled. Marco was actually deeply starring at her, really listening to what she was saying. “Take me to the track.” “What?!” Star replied. “Please?! Do you have any races I can watch you in?” Star thought for a moment. 'Marco really wants to see me race. It’s fortunate that there’s a race today!’ “Actually Marco, there’s a race today at noon! It’s 11 right now, and the track’s not too far away! We could make it in time to sign me up!” Marco smiled big. “Well what are we waiting for? Let’s go!” He said. Star blushed and smiled a dorky smile. She and Marco swam and ran until they made it to the track. Marco went to find a spot in the crowd and Star went to sign up. “Hello Ms. Butterfly! Go on in!” The list checker said as Star came up. “Thanks!” She said as she went into the locker room. Star found her name on a track suit and put it on. She was ready. Marco watched and waited for any signs that Star was coming out. He was getting a lot of weird looks from mermaids around him, but he didn’t care. He was there to cheer Star on. Star entered the track and quickly spotted Marco. It a crowd of mermaids, it was easy to find a deer man. He was there, shouting “GO STAR! YOU CAN DO THIS!” She smiled and pulled down her goggles. 'You got this.’ She thought to herself. 'He is cheering you on’ “ON YOUR MARKS, GET SET…” A gun fired signaling 'go’. Star swam. FAST. She swam fast every time, but she felt stronger, happier, faster this time. Marco watched as Star zoomed by, taking the lead as the top mermaid. She was almost there. The finish line was so close! She made it. She had won first place. Marco erupted in yelling and shouting. “She did it! SHE IS FIRST!” He made his way out the stands, drawing attention as his hooves hit the metal. He got down to where the finish line was as Star was waiting for him. She opens her arms. He opened his. He ran to her and gave her a big hug. Tightest, sweetest hug he’d ever gave. “You did it. You got first place.” He said. “Did you think I couldn’t do it?” She asked, putting on a fake hurt face. “No. I knew you could do it. I just wanted to see it with my own eyes.” Suddenly, a feeling overwhelmed him. He thought it was the perfect moment. He would get her back. As he leaned in to kiss her cheek, she turned and he got her nose instead. “M-marco!” Star stuttered. She didn’t try to stop it though. She blushed and felt her scales flutter. Marco’s ears started to twitch and he too blushed. As he pulled back, Marco and Star stared at each other for a moment before sinking back into an embarrassed hug. All the other mermaids had crossed the line now. Star got her award and turned to Marco. “Where too now?” She asked.
