Her...
(A Short Story from Nightshade)
"Your the spitting image of her! You even act exactly like her!" Is what they always told me when I was a young kit...I didn't understand at first. I didn't understand who 'she' was. Until one day her name was uttered. "...Shadewhisker..." I then learned that 'Shadehwhisker' was her, and that she was my blood-mother, a cat who was no longer with us apparently.
I didn't mind at first, for it simply gave me the chance to know my blood-mother by simply knowing myself. But this was only when I was young, now I'm nothing like her! Nothing like her at all anymore...Or at least, I know this from the few stories I was told about her.
Then it happened. A badger struck and now I have what a certain someone called 'her' scar! It lead him to stare at me, like I wasn't me. Like I was her. It lead us to a truce, a fragile one only created cause of that stupid scar!
Then that other one gave me the name Nightshade! After...her, I'm pretty sure.
Why can't they all just see...especially him, that I'm not like her...That I don't want to be like her! That if given the chance I would change my pelt, my suffix, and get rid of my scar...
For I'm not her, I'm not Shadewhisker! I am Nightshade! A confident, warrior of HeatherClan! That shall one day be Nightstar, as my name shall echo throughout history as a great leader, not as Nightshade, a shadow of Shadewhisker!

I made this piece because with Nightshade’s older brother, Wildwhisker, leaving HeatherClan at the time, I didn’t think I was going to be able to show some things about Nightshade through the rp and instead showed them through this short story.
While this isn’t the first written piece I posted on my Deviantart, I believe this is the first one I posted on my Tumblr, so yay!
