Hannibal season 1 rewatch : episode 4

Spoilers ahead so beware!

-There's something quite sad of Will only feeling safe OUTSIDE his own house. Not even in it, but when he Encanto concept art book there's some beautiful art in there people can't acess. Except that by being outside, Will also can't access this safe heaven.

- "I know who I am" 😭😭 the dramatic irony of season's 1 plot being about Will loosing this sense of identity

- Hannibal casually invading Will's home is chilling, he prepared treats so the dogs wouldn't bark and just waltz in there like the space belonged to him, touching the piano, opening drawers. What a horrible breach of intimacy! People can't seem to forgive Will for his season 2 finale 'betrayal' but after everything Hannibal put Will through, after every violation, is it a wonder Will can't trust Hannibal?

- While Will is putting himself in the shoes of the killer, Hannibal is putting himself in Will shoes : feeding his dogs, finishing his lures…

- Hannibal impales his thumb on Will's hook, but by the end of the season, the one who was lured, caught and who bled is Will, not Hannibal.

- I stand by what i said. I don't think Hannibal is in love with Will at this point, no matter how many fics state he fell in love at first sight. Obsessed and curious yes, but not in love.

- Alana saying "you have to find someone to relate to in this     experience" to Abigail, and the scene cuts to Hannibal…NOT YOU HANNIBAL!

- Beverly being an elder sibling is no suprise. She radiates big sis energy and dealing with Team Science is like dealing with children (cue to Will and Zeller bickering like said children)

- Will sassing Hannibal is one of my favourite thing ever "low hanging fruit" "lazy psychiatry" let's start with your mother", "Feeling paternal Will"     "aren't you". He pushes back against Hannibal (sad to know it's useless and he will fall hook, line and sinker for Hannibal's manipulations)

- "Thank you for feeding them while I was away"😱 WAIT IT'S CANON THAT WILL ASKED HANNIBAL TO FEED HIS FOUR LEGGED FAMILY WHILE HE WAS AWAY? SO HANNIBAL WAS IN FACT INVITED IN WILL'S HOUSE?? That makes the betrayal all the more terrible 😭😭 Will invited him in his little boat and Hannibal violated this trust.

- Hannibal casually discrussing with Jack what he and Will talked about…Doctor/Patient confidentiality anyone?

- So while Will reconstruct the murders, the glasses are off, while he talks with Hannibal for their ‘sessions' the glasses are off, but the glasses are on when he teaches? And he takes them off as Jack talks about murder, no glasses in the lab with Team Science, no glasses to look missing kids up on his computer….I'm trying to keep track of the glasses before trying to understand if there's a rhythm and reason to it. The glasses stay off for the rest of the episode after Will puts them away as he’s lead away from his classroom. Are they a symbol of his teacher persona being put away to make place for the profiler? I may be reading way too much into this but hey, that’s half the fun of it.

- I love Beverly 😥 she's snealy but not afraid to approach Will and talk to him

- Hannibal is always pushing Will toward Abigail. In their first session of the episode, when Hannibal  mentions family, Will thinks of his dogs, not Abigail. It's Hannibal who puts Abigail in Will's head. Cue next time Will buying equipement for  Abigail and Hannibal once again correlating Abigail to Will's family with his "are you feeling paternal Will?" Is this the red thread of this episode? Hannibal pushing Will towards Abigail?

- Well he's also setting himself  up as Abigail's only support and safe place.

- Hannibal in apron, waistccoat and rolled sleeves is an aesthetic I will never get tired of.

- Will is making CANNIBAL PUNS  "you bound with your captor, you survive, you don't, you're breakfast". Guess who never ended up as Hannibal's breakfast until season 3? They deserve each other your honor. Both as insufferable as the other.

- And one shattered teacup for Abigail, the pattern continues. Will is fine china and Abigail breaks teacups.

- Alana saying she's often right 😬 not when it comes to Hannibal no…Although i do appreciate the irony of her calling Hannibal rude.

- Jack asking Bella if it's too late to have kids and Bella answering "it is for me". When you know she has cancer, this is heartbreaking.

The story protagonists are mainly the characters of NBC Hannibal, but I think that it is enjoyable even by those who have seen the show and it's just a fan of werewolves and other dark creatures. I do not say anything else, I leave you alone to enjoy the pages!
