ok so i have this theory because this scene in avatar the last airbender when he goes into the avatar state for like the 2nd or 3rd time at the southern air temple when he sees monk gyatsos skeleton and all the avatar memorial places (idk what theyd be called) light up. so why wouldnt they light up before if he entered the avatar state that first time on the ship with zuko? probably because that was his first time connecting with a past life! the other times were just an avatar state reflex to save his life.
