Alternate Universes Bowuigi idea that's been floating around in my head for a while now.
I came up with this while watching Peacemaker season 2 LOL.
Basically, Bowser is sick and tired of losing. He never gets a win and he's grown unhappy. Suddenly, he's got this idea that if alternate universes DO exist, then there's GOT to be one where he is finally happy in it - he's won over Peach, he's defeated Mario, he's conquered kingdoms, you name it.
So when Kamek attempts some kind of spell, Bowser ends up in a new world that looks exactly the same but yet isn't.
In this world, Bowser is finally happy.
And here's the twist!
It isn't because of Peach. No, him and Peach are actually best friends in this world and get along well. (It took some time but they're just chilling now). And it isn't because he conquered every kingdom. It isn't because he finally won against Mario. No, in this world, him and Luigi are together.
And that confuses Bowser because how the hell did he end up with Luigi of all people? And how in the world did Luigi manage to tame him?? The Koopa King?
So, Bowser explores this world a little bit (also because he doesn't quite know how to get back :p Kamek is working on that), pretending to be this world's Bowser.
He occasionally quizzes Junior and the Koopalings on things Luigi likes and what's ok in the relationship (because he has to know to sell the act), and keeps a list. Things like nicknames, how Luigi likes his coffee, playful kisses, etc.
The more he settles into the role, though, the more it becomes real and less of an act. And the more he realizes that happiness isn't what he thought it was, and he quite actually likes this life. It also makes him start to see Luigi in a different light.
Luigi treats Bowser with a kindness that makes Bowser's heart ache in a weird way that he doesn't know how explain (because that's real love). He wonders for a bit if maybe he was chasing the wrong thing (or person) in his world.
He's happy in this world. He feels like he actually matters, like he finally won something. Because someone in this world actually chose him.
Eventually, the Kamek of this world figures out that his Bowser swapped places with this one and confronts him about it. He tells Bowser that the longer he stays, and the more he keeps up this charade, the more he'll actually end up hurting Luigi. But Bowser convinces himself otherwise.
And it's a little bittersweet because he knows that he can't stay in this life forever - it isn't his. But he doesn't want to leave. ;((
When he does go back to his reality though he does the one thing he never thought he would do: try.
