Ryland has three siblings: 2 older brothers and a younger sister. He grew up knowing about his brothers but had no real information on them. He has no idea about his little sister. Of his siblings, Dakota, the second eldest, is the only one he's ever met. This is because Dakota knows Del, and Del got Ryland involved only after Ry got away from his family.

What he doesn't know is that his other two siblings have connections to the bar. Will was adopted by Zia and Leo when he was just a baby. Zia's sister, Colette, still actively lives at the bar. Addison's mom knew Cord's oldest son, Robert, and Robert owed her a favor, so he raised the girl with Yin. The odds of either one of them crossing paths with Ryland are extremely high, but it's unknown if any of them will make the connection that they're siblings aside from Addison with Ryland. This is because Addison knows Coltrane is her biological father and knows that Ryland exists, but Ryland does not know Addison exists.

Will, on the other hand, has no idea he has any biological siblings and would be completely oblivious as to who any of them were, even if they were standing right in front of him.

William, Dakota, and Ryland are all brothers. All three of them share the same father but none of them have ever met. Coltrane knows Will exists but never knew his name. He knew Dakota’s name was Kota, he’s not sure if it was ever changed but he was told the kid was “as good as dead” right before he killed the boy’s mother. Ryland is the only child he has a connection with. He got custody of the boy when he was a toddler and was very upfront about it all. 

The thing Ryland does not like is knowing that, even if his brothers are still alive, if Coltrane found them he’d kill them. Or worse, make Ryland do it as some bullshit loyalty test. 

He’s not sure he’d be able to do it.

From about mid torso down, William doesn’t actually have body hair, he has feathers. This comes from being half siren. He tends to hide them with magic, something simple he learned from his dads. His feathers match that of a pin-tailed sandgrouse.

Despite being half siren and knowing he could use his voice to get what he wants out of most situations, William just doesn’t. He wasn’t raise that way. He will, on occasion, use it to mess with someone being a creep or a dick, but more often than not he only uses with consent.

William is actually allergic to bees. He figures it has something to do with being half human, but it still sucks to be allergic to anything. He’s not severely allergic, it won’t kill him, but the hives are still uncomfortable.

Since he’s only half siren, Will’s voice doesn’t hold as much power and he’s not immune to other sirens. It was part of how Iridia was able to string him along the way she had.

He was the first non-human she had seen since she realized there was a hunter on her trail. The first one that felt of anything close to power, magic running in his veins like a faint undercurrent. He was the only option she saw left. 

“Excuse me,” she said softly, tapping him on the shoulder, her precious baby cradled in the other arm. 

Zia stopped at the voice, frowning slightly before trying to shake the sudden fog from his mind. “Can I help you?” She didn’t look or smell familiar and he definitely would have remembered a scent like hers before.

A sad smile touched her lips at the question and she nodded, pressing too close and whispering in his ear. His own magic tried to fight hers, but she was stronger, older and more practiced. It gave her the advantage.

When he stopped fighting, she gently pressed the baby into his arms. “You will keep my William safe. Love him as if he were your own. Raise and protect him, teach him and accept him for who and what he is. Do not abandon him. He is your child now,” she instructed, one hand touching Zia’s cheek, the other lingering upon her baby. Forging a bond this way was frowned upon, it could backfire, she knew, but the boy needed something to live for her and her son needed someone to keep him safe. 

If nothing else, it would provide them both with what they needed. 

“What of you?” His voice was slow, almost like he was drugged. She supposed, in a way, he was.

“I no longer exist. He has always been yours. He is your baby. I am but a dream within a dream,” she whispered, letting her words wash over and through him. 

When the boy’s attention shifted to the baby, she took a step back, trying her hardest not to cry. 

“Let’s get you home, bud,” the man murmured, adjusting the baby to be more comfortable in his arms. 

As he turned to walk away, the woman swallowed back a gut wrenching sob. It was better this way, he would never know her but he would live. That was worth more than anything else to her.

Will’s mother was a siren. When he was about 4 months old, she caught wind of a hunter on her tail, so she found someone not quite human and persuaded him to take the baby and raise him as his own. It wasn’t long after that that she died.
