Willem decided the only place to record Man in the Mirror was some place that befit the song so Bastien offered up his “carousel squat” and the pirate prat in leather hopped up on the old piano he’d drug in for the session after getting most the other equipment set up. He had to admit he was a little worried this much electricity running in the building might be a fire hazard. It was a little scary and he saw the lights dim in and out a few time like it was unstable, but that made it all the more authentic to him. Willem didn’t even Koda, Chess, or Justine in on this one. He hooked up with Bastien and asked around if he had any buddies out there that liked that liked to play. He got some nobodies, some crackheads, methheads, some lost souls that never get a chance to do shit too caught up in the game. They were Bastien’s friends, the guy that lived under the bridge, some guy from the trap house, people at the wedding Maddy probably never learned the names of. She’d see their faces again suddenly right there among the horsie workship turned music studio for a day.
Bastien had given Will a key to do all this early. Will was waiting for their true hosts to arrive when he heard the door creak open. There were the Belleroses now.
“You ready to learn my song, Bernie?” He’d been around Wulf enough he’d caught onto the nickname and it just popped out. Not that it was his song, just his version of it.
Bastien not the best with his things being touched but knew this was going to be different when he walked in was a little busy looking around. It was why he didn’t want to be there when they set it up. He knew it would drive him batty.
Luckily, he had Maddy to focus on which he did even more of the bigger she got.
Especially when the were out of the castle, and even more so when they were in less savory structures, even if they owned them.
From the moment she stepped out of the SUV, from refusing to let her carry his pack, to being right there as they walked in making sure every step of the flooring was steady before she took on step on it in that old building. He might have been on Bastien-overdrive since Frankie became Frankie. Their little person was in there and he wasn’t letting anything happen to her either.
