I brought this up once a while ago but like. Imagine Alex discovering Heelys since they came out after he died and Willie being absolutely scandalized because “they are a disgrace to the skating community”. And Willie hates that Alex wears them but loves him too much to get too angry.
(Willie only huffs indignantly when Alex, Luke, and Reggie all roll up in Heelys as a squad)
So they both live in one of those apartment complexes where there are a tonne of levels/are both staying in a hotel that’s hella tall and Alex drops something and it lands on the balcony below his and is like “oh crap” bc the guy in the room below his has already screamed at him once for no reason so he kinda panics until the cute guy on the balcony next to his is like “yo what’s wrong” and he explains and Willie introduces himself and is like “well your friendly neighbourhood skater boy/parkourist is here to help” and just... climbs down and gets it for Alex and that’s how they meet
Okay so I loved this so much that I HAD to write it. Enjoy!

“No no no no no!”
Alex practically deflated as he leaned over the railing and watched his drumsticks clatter onto Mr. Hall’s balcony below.
Well. There went his evening.
He glared down at the sticks for a moment, like they had somehow betrayed him in an unforgivable ordeal (they had), before taking a few steps back and leaning against one of the walls framing the sliding door to his living room.
“I’m an idiot,” he mumbled, tipping his head back and staring at the purpling sky. “I am. An. Idiot. I’m an idiot. I’m an idiot.”
“I’m really hoping that’s not your name.”
Alex shot up into a full standing position and whipped his head around to where the voice had come from and oh.
It was his neighbor. The neighbor. His super-hot-dreamy-perfect-cute-next-door neighbor. Who was standing on his own balcony just to the right of Alex’s and had just witnessed him being ridiculously dramatic over something that probably didn’t seem like a big deal.
“Sorry! I mean, uh, sorry, I was just,” Alex tugged on the hem of his shirt and cleared his throat, “I just. Dropped something.”
The neighbor nodded and glanced down to where the drumsticks lay. “Dang, and on Mr. Hall’s property, too. That guy’s a piece of work, isn’t he?”
Alex laughed a little awkwardly. “I’d say that’s harsh, but I’d be lying.”
The neighbor flashed a smile—wow what a good smile—and crossed his arms. “You gonna go get them?”
“I would, but Mr. Hall already hates me enough as it is. If I told him my drumsticks were on his balcony, he’d probably snap them out of spite.”
“I see,” the neighbor responded, nodding contemplatively and brushing some hair behind his ear. “I could lend you a hand.”
Alex tilted his head. “You’re really gonna talk to that guy? He’s kind of crazy. Don’t know if you can reason with him.”
The neighbor grinned. “Nah. I’ve bot a better idea. Can I come onto your balcony?”
Alex hesitated, then said “Uh, yeah. Sure. I’ll-” But as he turned to open the sliding door, the neighbor climbed up onto his railing and jumped, and Alex damn near choked on air.
The neighbor, hanging onto the outisde of Alex’s balcony, pulled himself over the rail and brushed himself off like it was nothing. “I’m gonna grab your drumsticks. What’s your name, by the way?”
Alex’s jaw was slack and he was sure he was staring like a complete idiot but he managed to get out “Alex.”
The neighbor nodded with his stupidly perfect smile and held out his hand. “Willie. Nice to meet you.”
This was one of the weirdest introductions Alex had ever had, but wow, that was insanely impressive. He shook Willie’s hand.
Willie nodded, then made his way to the front railing of the balcony. He took a moment to assess the terrain, then lifted himself up and over the railing so he was hanging on from the outside.
“Uh,” Alex began, cringing at the nervousness in his voice, “be careful!”
And then Willie winked—winked—and Alex almost collapsed. “Don’t worry about me. I’ve got it.”
Alex took a few steps closer to the railing and then Willie jumped, and Alex came rushing over to see if he was alright.
Sure enough, Willie was up on his feet on Mr. Hall’s balcony and perfectly fine. He sent a smirk up at Alex. “Told ya. Totally fine.”
Alex nodded dumbly because he was suddenly 200x more infatuated with his neighbor than he’d been before, and he hadn’t even been aware that was possible until now.
Willie grabbed the drumsticks.
“Oh,” Alex called, “if you hold them too tight when you climb back up they might break.”
Willie didn’t have any pockets. He seemed to think for a moment, then gestured at Alex to give him a second. He proceeded to tie his hair up with a band on his wrist and wow, he looked stunningly and unfairly attractive with his hair in a bun. And then he stuck Alex’s drumsticks through his hair for easy transportation.
Alex stared. And wondered how Willie was planning to get back up.
Willie was already way ahead of him, balancing on the terrifyingly thin railing, one foot in front of the other, and managed to grab a carved ledge that lined the base of Mr. Hall’s overhang. From there he pulled himself up, found footing on the same ledge, and made the final stretch to reach the base of the bars on Alex’s balcony.
Alex instinctively reached down to lend him a hand, which Willie gratefully accepted, and soon the latter was swinging back onto his feet in front of Alex, pulling his drumsticks out of his hair and holding them out.
Alex took them, staring at Willie with what was almost definitely an idiotic expression, and said, “Uh. Thank you.”
Willie chuckled a bit and lifted his chin. “Not a problem. Just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.”
Alex huffed a laugh at the stupid joke and tilted his head. “Is that your thing then? Parkour?”
“One of a few,” Willie quipped. “I’m a skateboarding enthusiast. I’d say that’s more ‘my thing’.”
Alex nodded quickly and smiled because that was kinda sorta dreamy and said, “That’s cool. That’s really cool. So cool.”
Nice one, dumbass.
Willie grinned. “Not as cool as drumming. Is it a hobby? A job?”
Alex shrugged. “Kinda both, I guess. I’m in a band.”
“Dude, no way! What’re you guys called?”
“Julie and the Phantoms.”
After a moment, Willie’s expression brightened. “I’ve heard of you guys! You played the Orpheum a few weeks back and made the news, right?”
The thought that Willie had actually heard of the band was enough to make Alex redder. He smiled. “Yeah.”
“Awesome.” Willie raised an eyebrow. “Guess I’ll have to catch a show sometime.”
Before he could stop himself, Alex blurted out, “Or you could watch us rehearse!” He clammed up. “Sometime. If you want. Maybe.”
And then the Unfairly Hot Neighbor’s expression melted into a knowing, easy nod. “So down. I’ll give you my number. You can lemme know when.”
Alex nodded and reached for his phone automatically, opening the contacts and letting Willie enter his name and number.
Willie handed the phone back, shooting Alex another blessed wink, and said, “Catch ya later.” And then he hopped over Alex’s railing once more and made the leap to his own, climbed over, and was gone.
The drummer was sure he was making a dopey face but he completely didn’t care. He looked back at his phone to see the contact name entered:
🛹 Skater Boy 🛹
Alex grinned and held his phone to his chest. It’d been a while since he’d been this excited for rehearsal.

Hope you liked it! This is the first JATP writing piece I’ve ever posted anywhere, actually. Please forgive typos because I edited this but I may have missed a few. Thanks for the ask <3
What about a Willex au where Willie is a fan of the band or something and he sees how Alex and Reg make their exasperated eye contact whenever Jules and Luke skirt around each other onstage and he’s like “these two know something” and comes to the interesting conclusion that the easiest way to Alex’s heart is to set up Jukebox and then he just... succeeds. And Julie returns the favour by helping him ask out Alex
GENIUS
Imagine though, Willie is just like, infatuated with Alex. And he’s like “okay I have GOT to go on a date with him.” But he isn’t really sure how because he’s met the band a few times but he isn’t sure if it would be weird if he spoke to them more.
Anyway, by some miracle, Willie manages to get more well acquainted with Julie and at one point is offhandedly like “hey so uh Luke... he seems to really like you.” And Julie’s like 😳😳you think?🥺👉👈
And Willie is like “totally! I think you should make a move.” And Julie admits she’s been wanting to for a while but she was never sure if Luke liked her back. Willie assures her that Luke likes her and it was the final push for Julie to ask Luke out.
Fast forward a week, Julie thanks Willie (again) for helping her get with Luke. And then she catches him staring at Alex (again) and is like “you seem to have a crush of your own.”
And Willie is like “huhhh?? No....... yeah.......”
And Julie is like “Lucky for you, I know he thinks you’re cute but he’s too shy to ask you out.”
And Willie’s heart just. Stops. And he’s like “waitareyouseriousrightnow” and Julie nods and tells him that he has to be the one to ask Alex out bc apparently all three boys in Julie and the Phantoms are too nervous to make first moves when they have crushes.
Willie goes up and is like “hey uh... I’m Willie... in case you don’t remember...”
And Alex is like 👁👄👁 “I remember”
And Willie goes on about how great his performances are and eventually gets to the point. “So I was wondering if you’re down to go out sometime.”
“Go out like...”
“Like a date.”
And Alex is all blushy and awkward but he accepts because of course and Willie hasn’t been this happy in forever.
