making whiskey blush is an art form, one that you accidentally perfected very early into your relationship. it was your humor that you shared in spades and your ability to leave him speechless with your own nicknames for him: rhinestone cowboy, man in black (after johnny cash), etc. he didn’t expect you to be such a spitfire but he learned his lesson in triflin’ with you pretty early. it didn’t take long for you to earn your own nickname as his firecracker
you actually understand his cowboy euphemisms, like “don’t eat half the berries and say the pie shell’s too big,” and “if his brains were dynamite, he couldn't blow his nose,” and “like diggin’ a pond and hoping for ducks.” you have become the yeehaw translator among your fellow agents and it was a great source of entertainment. when you first started inching towards something more than friendship, you had a feeling he would use the most absurd lines just as an excuse to talk to you more (it was true but hey it worked)
whiskey loves a woman who’s not gonna go down without a fight, and your loud and brash personality suits him perfect. but when he learns abt your hobbies, he doesn’t expect what you tell him. there’s a painting on the wall of your office and it catches his eye every time he waltzes in (“the second most captivating masterpiece in the room,” he says as he gives you a dose of double flattery one afternoon)
your relationship isn’t all sunshine, not with the jobs you two have. there are nights jack will wake with a start and he’ll try his best to get out of bed without waking you (he fails every time) and he’ll look out the bedroom window, staring but not really seeing. his mind is buckin’ him and his heart around like a bull with how this, what little peace he found in you, isn’t deserved.
when you notice he’s up, you’ll get up and you’ll come up behind him, kissing between his shoulder blades as your arms wrap around him. his muscles will lose their tension in your embrace and you’ll softly tell him the truth, what he needs to hear right then. that he earns your love with every silly cowboy line and tip of his hat, with every door held open and gentle kiss, every time you look into his eyes and see nothing but love looking back at you.
