It takes a certain kind of anger to push someone you love out of their vicious circles. Had the Torchbearer been less of a "this time it's going to work out for sure :) -> oh no it didn't :( but it will next time :)" and more of a "what the fuck are you doing can't you see you're making the same mistake over and over again" maybe things would have gone differently.
There are people who yes, only need to be supported through their cyclical journeys because they know what's best for them, but there are also people who can't be trusted with themselves because they will keep preferring familiarity over improvement and need to be taken by the shoulders and shouted at in their face. Or left alone to themselves, so they'll see what their life is without the help they were taking for granted, and maybe, maybe realize what they did. To themselves and others.
Or at least, if they don't understand and change, they won't drag you down with them anymore.
This is what I don't like of the final message of the lore. "Always be there for your loved ones no matter how many times they fail." No. It's not universal. It can't be applied to everyone.
Some people just don't deserve it and some people need to be left on their own in order to grow.
Weeks after learning of the Commodore's death--when he could no longer lie in bed consumed by grief, after he was forced to get up, to feed himself, to keep going--Roberts had visited the Dark-Spectacled Admiral. There was no love lost between the Admiral and the Commodore over the years. Roberts had heard plenty of the stories of the Commodore's frustrations upon return from his many trips to London. He hadn't seen the Admiral himself since he was barely more than a child. Yet he had to try.
As the years had gone by, the old guard had slowly faded out of the picture, until there were so very few people left who remembered the olden days. Remembered the Commodore as Roberts knows--knew him. The man who was full of jokes and life, whose charisma captured a room. One who cared. A man who'd spent hours yelling encouraging words through a layer of crumpled steel, trying to grant some level of comfort to a trapped and terrified child, to at the very least abate some of that terror in what could've likely been his final moments. The man who had slowly faded into placidity and smiles and bright nothingness as the years had gone on.
The Admiral was no friend to either of them, not since the schism, but perhaps he might remember the friendship the two had once had. Perhaps he might care that he died. Perhaps there is someone else who remembers the man, the same one Roberts does, and feels something at his passing. He has to try.
He adjusts his spectacles, hiding the puffiness of his eyes from view, and knocks on the door.
As Magic continues to add new crossover sets, I wonder if the desire for a "Universes Within" format will grow. Originally I was pretty neutral on the matter, and currently I even enjoy a lot of the Universes Beyond cards. That said, if I think about the future of Magic and how many crossover products I plan to ignore, it makes me dizzy. I don't mind it so much, but at the same time I think it would be a relief if I was at a commander table that didn't want to play any UB cards.
If such a desire were to grow within the community, it would probably be best as a modifier for existing formats, rather than its own separate format. Commander Within, Legacy Within, etc...
Okay but how sick is the fact that Fundy's dumb prank of putting buttons on every surface of Pogtopia turned into a literal physical representation of Wilbur's deterioration during that era, and now it sits there, untouched, a glaring reminder in the post show and devoid of light ravine
Barely anyone knows why they're there in the first place but whatever the reason was it doesn't matter, because when they see it they all can think of only one person

The marriage between Sanji and Charlotte Pudding was important.
That has been drilled into all of them multiple times by their father that Yonji had really stopped caring about it. No what he had eyes for was the real treasure in the room. Sure Pudding was beautiful and he would definitely have taken her... but this one was the real deal.
This one was the one that he was definitely going to take as his own.
But first he needs to make sure that the other two bozos of his brothers don't try and take up all the spotlight and attention. How dare they! They knew that he had claimed this one!
With gritted teeth, he started to stalk up to where the other two were crowding around his treasure when a slim hand grabbed at his wrist.
"what!?" he snapped ready to tear off the arm of whatever pheasant had dared to touch him only to stop at Reiju's stone smooth stare.
"Don't make a scene now." she said before walking off, leaving Yonji to seethe at the situation and shoot daggers at his brothers with his glare.
The other two definitely knew what they were doing when they sneered back at him and started to lead HIS treasure to a dance.
With a growl he turned back to Reiju.
"Oi."
"...what is it now?"
"I wont make a scene... but I want those two out of the scene."
At Reiju's frown he knew he needed to make a deal with her. "I'll distract father so if you want, you can try and talk to you precious Sanji before he gets married."
That seemed to do the trick.
"Bear in mind, you'll need to suffer for it too."
"Hah! I can take 100 times worse a punishment than them"
With a nod, he saw Reiju move over to the table where they were to eat. He got the plan.
Waiting for an opportune moment, he pounced, going over to his brothers and telling them to sit down before the party starts and before father noticed them goofing off too much.
Petty threats like that always worked, and while the two bozos sat down, he went searching for his treasure.
"There you are." He said finally having found them.
"Don't think I didn't notice you flirting. Did you like their attention? Did you plan for it? You know your wearing green right?"
He made his way closer and closer, reaching forward to grab their neck. So fragile compared to his modified strength.
"I'm sure they're learning their lesson on not to touch what is mine-" Reiju wouldn't go back on her words he knew. "-But it looks like I'll be teaching your lesson personally"
Looking at D.Va’s new interactions and seeing the ‘you remind me of myself when I was younger’ with Cassidy, I can’t help picturing Hana accidentally calling him ‘dad’ at some point and the scene from B99 unfolding sdfghjk-
