Microsoft showcases Windows 8.1 at Computex trade show in Taiwan

Microsoft has unveiled the updated version of its latest touch-enabled Windows 8 operating system (OS) at Computex 2013 in Taiwan. Computex is the world’s largest IT exhibition and its 2013 edition is currently running in Taipei, Taiwan.

Reller also said, "Windows 8.1 furthers the bold vision of Windows 8 by responding to customer feedback and adding new features and functionality that advance the touch experience and mobile computing potential."

The upgraded Windows 8 system at Computex was demonstrated by Antoine Leblond, corporate Vice President of Windows Program Management. The system features several enhancements in areas such as platform personalization and search. The upgraded Windows 8.1 system restores the much talked classic 'Start' button function that was removed from Windows 8.

The updated Windows 8.1 will allow users to launch the OS in a desktop mode that resembles the earlier setup found in previous Windows versions. Presently, Windows 8 users are automatically taken to a full-screen startup page that shows all the apps in a mosaic of interactive tiles.
