Song Rec for This Week

A little bit out of the genre I usual listen to, “Wing$” by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis is simply brilliant.

Wing$

A song about consumerism, Macklemore raps about the interesting conundrum of clothing in our society - particularly shoes.

Having lived in a U.S. city myself, I’ve seen the all-too-real news of kids getting killed over a simple pair of Jordans.

It’s heartbreaking, but it’s also a reality check for me. I like clothes as much as the next person, I won’t deny it. But are they worth a life?  I don’t think so.

As an end note, I love Macklemore’s musicality. Not only is he a master at delivering the lines he created, but the double entendres and wordplay he employs are just mind blowing.
