Jackie Parris, alongside Cornell Campbell, Buster Riley, Jimmy Riley, Bobby Davis, and Rad Bryan were members of the Jamaican group The Sensations at various points in time. Also Johnny Osbourne recorded with the group for producer Winston "Techniques" Riley in 1970. The Sensations can be regarded one of the premier vocal groups that recorded for Duke Reid's Treasure Isle label during the rocksteady era. They contributed several hit songs to Duke Reid, whose productions epitomized the smooth and sophisticated vibe of rocksteady more than any of his contemporaries.
Notably, Bobby Davis lent his voice to some of the group's most successful releases for Treasure Isle, the 1968 classic Every Day Is A Holiday. In that same year, his soulful vocal was featured in the beautiful love ballad Those Guys, which at the time of its initial release was paired with I Will Never Fall In Love Again. As always, the song showcases the refined instrumentation of Treasure Isle's superb session band, Tommy McCook and the Supersonics. A key member of the band, organist Winston Wright, takes center stage on the throughout entertaining instrumental track titled Moonwalk.Buyreggae.com has been engaged in the curation and licensing of various tracks from Duke Reid's catalogue since 2014.
