Just found out that it’s supposed to get down to around -10 and -20 Fahrenheit this weekend. There are a ton of stray cats where I live, and unfortunately no real shelter for them to stay warm in. I added some heated cat houses to one of my Amazon wishlists and I would greatly appreciate anyone willing to get them for us so we can keep all the stray cats from freezing this winter. There’s two different kinds on the wishlist- one single story and a two story. I’m only asking for two of each. My plan is to put one on our porch, and one on the patio by our garage if my mom agrees. The other two I plan on letting our neighbors (basically family) borrow since quite a few strays go to their house for food. It’ll make sure they have plenty of options and that regardless of which house the cats go to, there will be heated shelter for them. If you have the means, please consider helping out. I really don’t want these strays to suffer this winter. And I will be eternally grateful to anyone who does decide to help.

Ugh mobile nerfed me

I was looking through reblogs on a post to see if someone corrected some misinformation I noticed then I clicked out and got dragged to the top of my dash -_- so I'm just going to say it here

Oh my god DONT LET GO OF THE WHEEL IF YOU START FISHTAILING OR SLIDING WHILE DRIVING IN WINTER CONDITIONS

DO keep your hands on the wheel

DO take your foot off the gas

DO NOT touch the brake pedal

DO NOT oversteer/course correct

The trick is to keep your front tires pointed in the direction you want to go. Braking or accelerating will make you slide more so just coast until you get traction again or come to a stop. Please do not let go of the steering wheel. You will end up in the ditch or in oncoming traffic if you don't try to keep the car under control.

How to Securely Layer for Commuting in Winter, a Tutorial by a Minnesotan Native

do it in this exact order because it blocks the wind out most effectively while still remaining somewhat convenient and comfortable:

Get dressed as normal, I hope you know how to do that already

If you’re wearing big boots, put those on next, it’s super clumsy to do boots last so make sure they’re dry

If you plan on wearing earbuds, put those in next and let the cord dangle, because they’re gonna be buried

scarf goes next: put it across your face and then wrap around back to front

the rest of the headgear goes next, hat (tuck the scarf under the hat), earmuffs/over-the-ear-headphones are good for extra security

Put on your coat (make sure you get the cord of your headphones tugged out before zipping up, otherwise they’re lost forever RIP headphone cord), plug in your headphones/earbuds, put your phone in your coat pocket, add gloves, and you’re all wrapped up, ready to go! Bonus: sunglasses help on windy days when you’re afraid that the wind will produce tears and the tears are going to freeze to your face. Yes, this is a very common concern where I live.
