♕ Queen of Winter
↳ “When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.”
Love me with thine azure eyes, Made for earnest grantings; Taking colour from the skies, Can Heaven’s truth be wanting?
Love me with their lids, that fall Snow-like at first meeting; Love me with thine heart, that all Neighbours then see beating.
— Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Sansa Stark + Trauma
↳ “Some old wounds never truly heal, and bleed again at the slightest word.” — Ned Stark, AGOT
Foreshadowing of Jon giving Sansa the Lord’s kiss?
“Drifting snowfIakes brushed her face as light as lover’s kisses. She could feel the snow on her lashes, taste it on her lips. It was the taste of Winterfell. The taste of innocence. The taste of dreams. She had last seen snow the day she’d left Winterfell.”
Honestly, anyone who says this quote isn’t foreshadowing Jon kissing her on her cheeks, eyes/eyelashes and on her lips, is in utter and complete denial.
This quote literally screams Jonsa, in fact, that whole chapter does.
We can establish that, snowflakes & snow are associated with Jon Snow and with kisses.
One thing dawned on me just now, while re-reading this chapter. In the quote above what is foreshadowed, is Jon kissing her on the lips etc., but in the quote below?
“When she opened the door to the garden, it was so lovely that she held her breath, unwilling to disturb such perfect beauty. The snow drifted down and down, all in ghostly silence.”
“(The) Snow drifted down and down.”
Call me crazy, but I think this bit right here, foreshadows Jon giving Sansa the Lord’s Kiss.
I only wanted to kiss you (down) there.“ – Jon to Ygritte
I mean, change the word “snow”, with “kisses” or “Jon”, and…
“The kisses drifted down and down.”
“Jon drifted down and down.”
“Jon’s kisses drifted down and down.”
I mean… I wonder if anyone else caught this?
In the same chapter we also have Littlefinger creepily ask Sansa “May I come into your castle, my lady?” and she asks him to “be gentle”.
Going back to the second quote, “When she opened the door to the garden, it was so lovely that she held her breath, unwilling to disturb such perfect beauty.
Both these quotes, “may I come into your castle” and “she opened the door to the garden” seem to, at least to me, be foreshadowing Sansa being bedded/Sansa’s wedding night with Jon. Both those passages sound rather sexual.
Furthermore, Littlefinger then goes on to call Sansa “a snow maid”
“What are you doing?” Petyr straightened his cloak. “Kissing a Snow maid”
I mean come on! That whole chapter is clearly foreshadowing Jon and Sansa being together, kissing tenderly, making love, and oh, marrying too!
“She pushed two of her snowballs together (Jon and Sansa marrying, joining their houses), added a third (them having a child), packed more snow in around them (them having more children).”
“A snowflake danced upon the air. Then another (interesting, so two snowflakes for Jon, two snowballs for Sansa). Dance with me, Jon Snow, he thought. You‘ll dance with me anon.“ – Jon
“Sansa loved dancing, but Alayne…” – Sansa
“What do I want with snowballs? She looked at her sad little arsenal. There’s no one to throw them at. I could build a snow knight instead, she thought (The Black Knights of the Wall anyone? Snow Knight = Jon Snow). Or even…”
And then she goes on to build a snow castle, she builds Winterfell out of snow.
“Winterfell, he thought. Theon left it burned and broken, but I could restore it. Surely his father would have wanted that, and Robb as well (and clearly Sansa too).” – Jon
So yeah, this whole chapter is literally a Jonsa goldmine. It foreshadows them rebuilding Winterfell together, Sansa gently being kissed by Jon, being cared for and loved by him, Sansa and Jon being together and marrying, them making love on their wedding night and Jon giving her the Lord’s Kiss and them having children, thus continuing the Stark line. This might honestly be one of my favourite chapters from the books.
”(The) Snow drifted down and down.“ I really want to hear your opinion on this guys.
