Belle (9, infant private adoption)
Tara (7, overseas adoption 2 years ago)
Nora (7, 3rd of 4 kids in a very stressed home with DV (that’s what I call it, her mom may not)
All here, playing for 3 hours. Bella and Tara’s moms are super stressed with the challenges of parenting them. Bella was just suspended from school. Nora’s life is perpetual chaos.
It’s such an interesting mix. I’m sitting near observing and occasionally referreeing. They are in a super elaborate pretend game. If I wasn’t trying to work also I’d take notes because it’s fascinating! And I imagine ALL of their brains growing exponentially through this one play date, ha. So good for all of them.
They are daughters of my high school besties. Who would have thought we’d be parenting so similarly so many years later? It brings me great joy to join them in momming. Can’t lie, I hope the girls become real friends too:).
Nothing else I’d rather be doing today. As an only child lou needs experiences like this. I can give the time for the giant 75 minute round trip to bring them all home... plus we’re staying for dinner with one of them, ha.
