How One Humble Rugby Ref is Changing the Game
A fantastic and innovative use of technology from a Division 2 club match in Wellington, New Zealand between Old Boys University (Green & White) vs Poneke (Red & Black).
A simple mic and a couple of decent cameras (one following the ref and one following the game) gives great insight and valuable analysis material for this particular referee (sorry not sure of his name!) to assess his own performance.
You'll notice as the mic captures the sound of his breathing that a decent level of fitness is required, even at this level of the game. A short sample sure, but a very insightful one for developing rugby referees to learn from and perhaps apply at very low cost with the help of a couple of friends for a day ;)
Rugby definately needs more of this creative insight.
No one is going to pick you. Pick yourself.
