I was with Sprint, which just merged with T-Mobile – I can keep the same plan but they sent me an email saying that I could upgrade to a better network by going to a T-Mobile store for a new SIM card. “Making the transition is quick, easy and FREE…your device needs one simple upgrade that can be done in minutes at any T-Mobile store.”
Visit #1. I wanted to swing by and see what was required for the new SIM card. There was one employee inside and a sign on the door saying not to come in until called. I went inside thinking I’d have to sign in/check in (that’s how it works at Sprint stores). They didn’t have a sign in. Also, there were no signs outside the store about where to stand to indicate that you’re waiting in line and no social distancing markers outside either. The one employee was talking on the phone or looking at his phone for 20 minutes. No one acknowledged the people waiting outside. Another employee entered and after a few minutes, she asked how she could help. I explained that I received an email about getting a new SIM card. She said she could help but that I needed my phone’s PIN code. I didn’t know what that was, so I left.
I was able to get the PIN code from the Sprint website, so I returned the next day.
Visit #2. There were two employees inside the store. I waited outside for 20 minutes. A different employee asked about the purpose of my visit. I said I was a Sprint customer who received an email about upgrading by getting a new SIM card. She seemed confused and didn’t know about the T-Mobile offer, but she consulted the other employee and returned. She was able to help and didn’t need my PIN code.
Was the experience quick and easy as promised? Not exactly. Were they able to help? Yes. But the process seems unorganized. What I needed was simple but if I had a more complex issue, I think it would take a very long time.
Parking was easy. The T-Mobile store is in a strip mall anchored by Von’s.

Sprint...bruh... Your ad campaign is literally based on the fact that you have lower reliability than Verizon. "It's within one percent!" DO YOU REALLY THINK YOU WILL GAIN CUSTOMERS BY ADVERTISING THAT YOU ARE WORSE THAN YOUR COMPETITORS
Wind Mobile is rebranding itself as Freedom Mobile and adding to its old 3G network with an LTE network that should be available in every market where it operates by August.
