Day 5: Kidge (Witch)

Pairing: Kidge (Keith/Pidge)

Word Count: 349

Prompt: Mirror (#20 on this list)

“You’re a witch?”

“What gave it away? The pointy hat or the broom?”

“The smoking cauldron, actually.

“Shit! It’s not supposed to do that!”

Keith rushed to his boiling pot, his previously standoffish demeanor melted away. Pidge just shook her head and stifled a laugh. Honestly, she wasn’t that surprised to find out he was a witch. Of course, it did complicate things a bit, but Keith didn’t need to know that...yet.

She felt the heat creep onto her cheeks and immediately thanked the disaster of a potion that Keith was trying to save. It provided her with a much needed distraction. With a simple sigh, she turned to find an empty spot on the floor and found that, well, most of the place was empty (unlike her own room). She began speculating why her friend had so few things, besides his witchcraft supplies, but decided not to dwell on it.

Her bag landing on the ground with a thump, she fished out a thin book whose cover was worn beyond recognition. Even so, she knew exactly what that book held--she’d read it a hundred times. Stepping over to Keith, she nudged him out of the way and responded to his crooked brow with a small smile. Without looking, Pidge turned the book to the exact page she needed and gave the runes it displayed a brief scan. The ancient poem slipped off her lips with grace, as it had a hundred times before, and the words in her book glowed, washing the room in a bright green light. In an instant, the chaos had ceased and the cauldron was at rest.

“Oh,” Keith finally spoke.

“Yeah,” Pidge gave him a wide grin.

“I take it you’re a sorcerer...ess?”

“No big deal,” she gave him a wink. Until we get married, her thoughts continued, forcing her blush back onto her face. She hadn’t even admitted to Keith she liked him and there she was thinking about how they’d find a loophole in the whole “witches and sorcerers can’t wed” thing. Oh well. She had plenty of time.
