Some say the word occult means suppressed or lost knowledge or also hidden knowledge. In a real sense the deepest knowledge/vidya of the workings of existence/reality IS per definition hidden by Nature within herself as Nature’s own magical laws (of maya: appearance, illusion, conjuring reality through mind).
Long ago humans vibrationally entrained with these laws as consciousness was not as individuated as is today (ego-consciousness).
People were interconnected in a group mind (deity) & with the mind of the land & Nature as a unit, whole or tribe/clan or family/kaula— in an unbroken Shakti-circle (chakra or wheel) of self/group organisation.
With great (mental) power, the ancients could build monolithic structures on the land to bridge heaven & earth (deity, the godly & the human) in an unbroken circuit of flow.
These are the laws of creation & manifestation & wouldn’t anyone want to know how to create & bring about the circumstances they wish for?
So, when the ego/mind-consciousness of individuation evolved; necessarily the powers of Nature seemed to become lost & hidden. The ego-mind does not function vibrationally but rationally & pursues the laws of Nature scientifically.
The laws are hidden (from ego rational mind) until you know that what is, is for the best— & although as Jesus says— as son’s & daughters of the Godly, you have the power to move mountains with your faith— in realisation of that truth— you also know, that the mountain is already exactly where it ought to be— as everything serves everything else in creation in the great song/incantation of God, sounding the manifestation into existence (alphabet letters & spell).
It is difficult to study the occult, because the ego-aspect has appropriated much of it for its own ends— but the nuggets of ancient truth remains scattered & coded in the texts for those who dare to know. Within western occultism much has preserved (if you strip away the distortions).
Within the lore of Kali we can find encoded the entire structure of cosmic order & manifestation through the wheel (chakra) of the year/time; the witch-compass & other yantras or telluric power circuits; or sigils of sacred letters.
