How the Witch got her Shoes: Shoemaking & History
Have you ever wondered where the witch shoe got its shape? Turns out, the road for its history is just as curvy as its toe. Though there is clearly a similarity between the modern icon and the late 17th century fashionable shoe, that may be entirely a coincidence. Up until the 1900s, witches were depicted in bare feet, flat common shoes, or occasionally a modern style poked in. No pointed toes, curvy heels, buckles, or giant tongues to be seen. That is, until that style of shoe was trendy again.
Another fun watercolor illustration, I really enjoyed painting this one.
