Sandman #2 (February 1989)
Script: Neil Gaiman

Letters: Todd Klein
Just about two years after the Mystery characters last appeared in Elvira, the whole gang returns in Sandman #2, cover date February 1989, in an issue that is in many ways Gaiman’s homage to all of the DC Mystery hosts. This issue also sees the continuation of Cain repeatedly murdering his constantly regenerating brother, an invention of Alan Moore from their Swamp Thing appearances.
-Gaiman reinterprets The Witches Three as part of his Triple Godess theme which runs throughout Sandman. Totally integral to Sandman, but we’ll just be tracking the Three-In-One whenever they take the visual form of Cynthia, Mildred, and Mordred.
