Some people in the refuge were actually convinced that Kohaku was functionally mute; he rarely spoke, and the few people he had spoken to, it was in a quiet voice that made him seem small. He was still getting used to being around so many people, and especially those who understood what he was and wanted to help him live better. He was learning to open up, to be honest about his wants and needs instead of meekly diminishing himself for safety.
The young man's cheeks burned with anxiety, having pushed past his shyness to even get to this point as he sat straddling Blake's lap, but his eyes never broke contact. "I -- I honestly didn't think that would work as well as it did," he admitted, ending on a faint self-deprecating laugh. "I just... really like you. And I appreciate you showing me the ropes around here... and I just wanted to show it." His hands pressed against Blake's chest, one finger fiddling idly with a raised stain on his shirt as he bit his lip a little. "Maybe I'm just hormonal..."
