I didn’t want to post it because it had someone’s name, and I’m not sure they’d be comfortable with me posting about them, so I’m going to try to keep this vague, but feel free to convey this answer to them.
Yes, they are right; one of their exes absolutely lied and tricked me and several others with false allegations. Because of someone they associated with, because of previous issues, and because at the time, their ex seemed like someone trustworthy, it wasn’t exactly questioned. I regret not questioning it more. That ex has gone on to habitually lie many times and harm many others.
They took advantage of several people and situations and used them to harm the user mentioned in the ask you sent, plus others.
If the person you mentioned does want to take their ex to court, I fully support that decision and think they have every right to do so, because what their ex did was not only slander and defamation, but rumor milling and caused so much collateral damage.
