Caught up with as much of The Marvelous Mrs Maisel as I have patience for (for reasons which don’t need exploring at this juncture). Sticking to the episodes with Lenny Bruce seemed to be the way to go.

Luke Kirby is just, really quite good. The teasing of off-screen Tennessee Williams alone is a joy to behold.

Watching stateside period dramas set in the sixties, I can’t help but always think 'Why am I not watching The Apartment right now?’. I don’t think it should be remade, ever, but, I dunno... I wouldn’t be mad if someone took it on themselves to put it on stage and made him C.C. Baxter? He’s got the right Lemmony wanly impish/impishly wan quality.

Separately, any time I see him (or Rachel McAdams), I think I should get around to watching Slings & Arrows again. (Sidenote: he really is aging into Paul Gross.) If only so I can finally work through all the comparative possibilities with Mozart in the Jungle...

is the ghost feanor fic a fix-it fic or is it supposed to go alongside canon? (or uh i guess you could also have it make stuff worse LOL)

My Ghost Feanor story runs alongside canon and is First Age only, it’s…  Well, since Anon is interested, here’s the summary:

“…[Fëanor] died; but he had neither burial nor tomb, for so fiery was his spirit that as it sped his body fell to ash, and was borne away like smoke; and his likeness has never again appeared in Arda, neither has his spirit left the halls of Mandos.” What if his spirit has never left the halls of Mandos because it never went there in the first place?  Fëanor, dead, watches the First Age unfold, and from time to time, joins in. This story has a beginning, a middle and an end, but is missing a chapter or two in the middle, to cover the period 566-586, from the point where Elrond goes off to join Gil-galad, to the advent of the Winged Dragons.   I stopped writing at that point because I was so sad for poor Elrond, Elros, Maglor and Maedhros, so I went away to try to fix things (and ended up writing Feanor does go to Mandos but in the end it’s all OK!). It’s 92,500 words at the moment, and will probably be about 110,000 when complete, which it will be as soon as I’ve got the last chapter of Return to Aman finished off (and have done some actual boring paid work so I can afford to eat while I write :-D ).

I have already committed to buying the cat blog's wretched little yaoi novel. that shit's been pre-ordered. come on fam you collect enough data on me surely you can put two and two together and tell that there's no point advertising this to me it's already on LOCK.

so last year, when my wife and I got our first christmas tree together, we didn't have any ornaments at first. however, being a massive nerd, i DID have assorted character art keychains, so our Christmas tree wound up decorated with my various videogame waifus.

this year, we do have ornaments. however, the wife insisted on returning my waifus to the tree, and indeed promised to get me More Tree Waifus*. however it seemed unfair to me that only my blorbos were represented AND SO.

five hours of sewing and swearing later we have a tiny hornet for the blorbo tree 😌

*or sad elves. one of the two.

there's a quiz going around about whether you would read fanfic for a fandom without consuming the source material and a lot of the discourse does not seem to account for the fact that I Love My Friends.

listen if my friend makes a post saying they're so excited to share their blorbo/bingus coffee shop au, chances are I'll just be like. Blorbo is the blonde one in all your gifsets right? that's probably enough context let's go.

and I will read the fic and I will love the fic because it was written by my friend (and all my friends are incredibly talented wonderful people) and I won't know who blorbo and bingus are, really, but I'd trust them to make me a killer latte. and when I leave a kudos it's me telling my friend I love them.
