Last year I read on Pottermore that Dutch wixes would attend Beauxbatons and that seems very very ooc for the Dutch ahaha.....so I made up a Dutch wizarding school.
Unlike Hogwarts, the location of the Dutch wizarding school Robslot is known. You can find it on the "uninhabited" Frisian island called Rottumerplaat in the far north of the Netherlands. Centuries ago the founders of Robslot cast a collection of enchantments over the castle that make muggles believe the island is minuscule and really close to being swallowed by the sea. Nonetheless, every year a few muggles come to the island anyway to count birds, but there's no harm in that as long as they stick to the part that is visible for them (and they do because of said enchantments).
The truth is that the island is at least as large as Texel, the most easily accessible and popular of the Fresian Islands. Rottumerplaat’s one all-wizarding village, called Roppoort has a small, but relatively busy harbour. Most students will probably have visited it as tourists before they are old enough to attend Robslot.
Compared to Hogwarts Robslot is but a modest castle, but The Netherlands is much smaller than the United Kingdom and Ireland after all, so it receives a lot less students as well. Besides, while the greatest part of the young Dutch and Flemish students will be taught at Robslot, many parents (especially the Flemish) prefer to send their kids to Beauxbatons. While Robslot is very close to the German border, almost all German wixes will receive their education on their own school.
Like I said before: because of its village, the island Rottumerplaat isn't just open for students or teachers. However, the island is closed for tourists on the entire first day of school. This is a tradition, but it's also a rule made for the sake of practicality. Just like for Hogwarts, there is only one point from where one can cross to the island. It will be chaos if all students and a bunch of tourists all arrive at the island at once, especially because the students are free to roam the village and the rest of the island before the year officially starts. After that they are only allowed to leave the castle grounds in the weekends.

A long time ago the students would travel from Amsterdam to the castle by train, but because everyone knew where Robslot lay, the Dutch wixes already living in the north of the country complained that it was not practical to have to come to Amsterdam first, just to travel back from whence they came.
The solution was to keep the train station in the capital for those who came from farther south, but the last bit of the train tracks that crossed the water was demolished. The students would gather in the harbour of the industry town Eemshaven where a steamship would take them to Roppoort. The first time this was put into practice the students made the skipper return to the main land and go back to the island at a slower pace.
Especially the older students who'd made the journey by train before found the trip by magically enhanced boat so terribly short. It took the boat less than ten minutes to cross the water and that made a special moment - namely the first day of school - seem quite insignificant. The skipper did as they asked and stuck to muggle speed on the second attempt. This time it took about half an hour, which was - all students agreed - much more enjoyable.
Through the years it has become a crucial tradition for the students to under no circumstances stay inside on this boat trip and to feed the seagulls the lunches their parents prepared for the short, short trip. Some parents don't even pretend they made it for their kid and just hand over bags of old bread and jars of small or chopped up fish.

Just like Beauxbatons and Durmstrang there is no sorting ceremony on Robslot. There's little use for this anyway because there are so much less students attending Robslot than Hogwarts, but the founders also believed that dividing the students would go against their ideal of tolerance and inclusiveness. The students are educated at Robslot for seven years and so the castle has seven towers with several dormitories and common rooms for the students - every time the 7th years graduate their tower becomes available for the 1st years of the following school year.
Robslot is one of the few wizarding schools on which muggle studies and either Gobbledegook or Mermish are mandatory subjects until and including the fifth year. Muggle studies is more like social studies because the Dutch wixes have quite a bit of knowledge of muggles to begin with. Thanks to the small size and dense population of the Netherlands it's rather difficult to live as separately from muggles as it is in Britain. The wixes do form wizarding communities of course, but those aren't as isolated as the Brits seem to be.

Can you tell I’m working on Theurgy?
[Description: an inked drawing of Theurgy comic’s Pania. They are seen from the knees up, midair. They are wearing sports pants, a short, an off the shoulders shirt, and a vest with several pins, including a “dump him” one, one that says “ASL”, a LOL emoji one, and a “they” one. Their hair is lose, floating behind them. The traditional tattoos of both their cultures can be seen in their arms and chin, and you can see their hearing aid device]

Su cabello está suelto, y flota detrás de elle. Los tatuajes tradicionales de sus dos culturas se ven en sus brazos y su mentón, y se puede ver el aparato que le ayuda a escuchar.]
I know that at Hogwarts the House dorms are separated by gender, but what if a magic-using person at Hogwarts is non-binary or gender non-conforming or agender or any other gender that is under the non-binary umbrella; where does that person live while they are at Hogwarts? What if a non-binary magic-user at Hogwarts wants to be called a Wix instead of a Witch or Wizard??
You don't have to say wixen. Both males and females are called Witch in Charmed.
In Charmed they have a whole different terminology than in HP (and most other media about (fictional) magic) though. Since in HP women and men are exclusively referred to as witches and wizards, respectively, the concept of anyone who isn’t female being called a witch just isn’t canonically true. I believe in Charmed everyone with similar powers is called a witch, and there are no such things as wizards? (And if there are wizards they probably got that different name because they have different powers/are different beings? Sorry, I’m very vague on Charmed, its been a long time since I saw any of it.) But in HP witches and wizards have the exact same powers; they’re all users of the same magic and members of the same species, and the difference in what they’re called is purely based on gender. So it makes sense that people need a whole new word to refer to a magic user that isn’t (in this universe) inherently based on gender.
(As an aside I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone use wix/wixes/wixen outside of HP fandom so I’m not even gonna pretend I have any idea how this applies to irl people who have anything to do with magic. Usually when I hear something about real people who deal with magic stuff it seems to be that the term ‘witch’ applies to anyone in that group(?), and again, I assume ‘wix’ is only a handy word when people of the same group are called witches and wizards based on gender.)/guesswork
Hello! On your post about the newt student bag, you say attention wixes, wiches, and wizards. I was wondering if wixes is the non binary term for magical folk? I hope not using the wrong terms here, I don't mean to offend. I'm just interested in knowing :)
Hiya!!~ Yes indeed, wixes is the term used for non binary magical people:)Hope you are having a nice day!!
