♡ slow living with girlfriend!chrissy far away from hawkins
TW: mentions of canon-typical homophobia, mentions of verbal/psychological/emotional abuse by Chrissy’s mom, mentions of body image issues and body-shaming, mentions of forced/encouraged starvation/under-eating, and implied eating disorder. Chrissy is only a mean girl when she feels she has to be. Not proofread.
Everyone talks about being Chrissy’s scary gf, but nobody talks about the fact that Chrissy is more than capable of being your scary gf. Sure, she’s usually super sweet and, thanks to her small stature and kind eyes, she looks really nice and not at all intimidating. But, don’t get it twisted, that woman can get mean when she needs to be. Not to mention, she’s fiercely protective of you, the person she loves most in this world. You’re not quite as popular or well-liked as her in Hawkins and, really, you never have been. So, Chrissy’s been protecting you as your resident mean, scary best friend for years; standing up to anyone who dares to be rude to you, sneering at those who give you dirty looks, and don’t even get me started at the psychological warfare that strawberry blonde is capable of inflicting whenever she gets even the slightest hint that someone has done wrong by you.

TW/CW: use of a lesbian slang term (I don’t technically think it’s an actual slur?? But it is used as an insult in this specific case… mostly because I didn’t feel comfortable using the actual slur here… I may be sapphic, but I’m bi so I really don’t feel like it’s my place to use that word.), homophobic sentiments, Jason 🤢, two closeted sapphics doing a terrible job at hiding their gayness, Chrissy’s a lil possessive, and plus sized!reader.
You’re not petite like Chrissy (you lovely plus-sized angel, you), so best friend!Chrissy orders a cheer jacket in your size with her own name on it and sprays it with her perfume so that you can walk around the halls of Hawkins High wearing her clothes. When she gifts it to you, she tells you that she got it for you just because 1) she knows you’re still a little bummed that you didn’t make the squad, 2) you never remember to wear a jacket when it gets chilly and watching you walk around in under 30 degree weather without a coat drives her crazy (“I’m your friend, your best friend, at that! I’m allowed to be concerned about your well-being!!”), and 3) she knows how much you like her perfume and, since she can’t afford to buy you your own bottle, she figures giving you a coat that’s been spritzed with it is the next best thing. You’re so insecure, closeted, and naive that you truly believe her gifting you that jacket was nothing more than a friendly gesture. Even when she insists that you let her spritz it with her sweet perfume whenever her scent dulls on it, you still think that Chrissy’s just trying to be a good friend. Oh you sweet, naive, little closeted gayby baby. Jason’s pissed the first time you wear that jacket to school because that day also, coincidentally, happens to be the day that Chrissy stops wearing his letterman jacket around school and starts, instead, wearing her own cheer jacket; the one that looks and smells just like yours. He’s always known how pathetically in love with her you are (it’s why he’s always internally hated your guts while externally acting merely indifferent towards you in an effort to save face in front of his girlfriend). However, when Chrissy gifts you that matching jacket and starts matching your outfits each day - by coordinating her scrunchie color with yours, wearing your matching friendship bracelet, and sporting that matching jacket - Jason starts to suspect that maybe his picture-perfect little girlfriend has a thing for you too. Of course, he doesn’t want to believe it, that his girlfriend, the love of his life, could be a carpet-muncher. So, he starts asking her to go to church with him and his family more often… only for her to bring you along too. Then Jason starts asking her to go on more one-on-one dates with him, only for Chrissy to cancel last minute because she’s “sick.” However, whenever he drops by her place to check on her, Mrs. Cunningham always says she’s next door at your place, rolling her eyes while she’s at it because she doesn’t care for you either.
But enough about Jason slowly coming to terms with the fact that Chrissy’s madly in love with you and not him… An added bonus of you wearing the jacket she’s given you is that Chrissy gets to feel this profound sense of possessive pride tingle up her spine whenever she spots you walking through the halls with her jacket on. She now understands why all the jocks make their girlfriends wear their letterman jackets, because there’s something oddly satisfying, delightful even, about seeing her name literally branded on your clothing and smelling her own trademark scent wafting off you in soft, delicate, subtle waves; just enough that you smell just like her without the scent being too strong or overwhelming.
I’m currently making chutney any all I can think is about cottagecore Chrissy and how her little farm would be full of cooking and baking

Chrissy Cunningham is 1000% a stress-baker. For those unaware of this phenomenon, Chrissy bakes to help distract her and/or calm her down when life gets stressful. You can always tell when she’s had a bad day because, as soon as all the plants' and animals' needs have been met, she’s quick to sneak away to her safe haven; your shared cottage. Then, when you’re done with your daily tasks, you’ll come inside to find your lovely little cottage smelling like her favorite sweet spices and extracts.
And, god, does Chrissy look so fucking adorable and beautiful in her lovely little apron, with her gorgeous strawberry blonde hair tied back loosely in a matching-colored scrunchie, humming and dancing along with the songs on her designated baking/cooking mixtape (which includes lots of 70s hits, such as I Heard It Through The Grapevine by Marvin Gaye, Cecelia by Simon and Garfunkel, Plastic Jesus by Tia Blake, and Make Your Own Kind of Music by Cass Elliot. Side note: I firmly believe Chrissy is a huge Cass Elliot and The Mamas & The Papas fan). She’s truly in her element at your little cottage and on your lovely farm; it’s her home, the one place where she feels comfortable enough to be truly carefree and to express her joy openly.
And, the moment you enter her serene realm of domesticity, Chrissy’s flashing you a bright, beaming smile and pulling you into a warm, tight hug, neither of you even the slightest bit concerned about all the flour on her apron rubbing off on your clothes. When she finally feels ready to pull away from your warm embrace, she’s quick to press a sweet kiss to your lips and then remind you how much she loves you by murmuring those wonderful three words against your lips.
