Sounds of Summer - pt. 3 This here is my third and final for the day as I continue with this theme for @wonderfulmachine. It's a no brainer for me as I'm just rolling back in from my son's double header against the team from Dillon, MT. I was working the bbq along our third base line which turned out to be the most appropriate seat for today as I was forced to listen to it all unfold while doing battle with an army of burgers, dogs and brats. The soundtrack of the game varies radically as to where you plant yourself. I've had the pleasure of listening to games unfold from about every perspective... whether it be via coaching in the dugout or calling the game from the booth. And truth be told, I prefer the latter. It's the one seat where you are forced to pay attention to the game in a variety of ways while being able to play a role in how others hear it too. The crack of a bat and the call of a third strike are still within earshot and the various conversations that fill the bleachers are just out of range. It's hard to explain the beauty that is found in the sound of a ballgame. All I know is this - it can be heard from every seat and it makes me happy. This particular image was made with my phone during a recent game that I had the pleasure of announcing. And yes, that's my boy on the mound.
