Meet Heriberto, known as Eddie to his friends. Eddie interned at Walmart during summer’s 2014 and 2015 in our IT division and is now looking forward to coming back as a full time Infrastructure Systems Programmer upon graduation from Texas A&M University.
Here are some tips Eddie put together from his experience to share with you:
• Remember, you're only here for 10 weeks, so make sure to get everything you can out of this internship.
• Ask your manager about other areas or departments that may interest you and see if they can set up a meeting with a leader in that area. This internship is to help you realize what you want to and don't want to do for the rest of your life.
• Ask all the questions you can to your peers; however, don't bombard them either. Make sure you do your research before and then ask them about the areas you don't quite understand.
• You're going to have a ton of free time after work, so make sure to use it wisely. Go out for a run! Or, visit downtown and explore the Bentonville/Rogers area.
• Learn more about the project you are working on with your department. If you are a computer science major, this is the time to learn new languages and get proficient with the ones you are already comfortable with.
Overall, enjoy your experience with Walmart and get the most out of it as you can!
