Remus was sitting in the common room, curled up with his knees to his chest in the red armchair next to the fireplace. It had been a long day, and all Remus wanted to do was dive into the fictional world where he could distract himself from his reality.
The reality in question? His crush on the one and only Sirius Black.
This was not news that remus had taken quite well, to be frank. At first, it wasn't obvious to Remus why he got a weird fluttering feeling in his stomach whenever Sirius was around; or, why be began to blush profusely when Sirius grabbed his hand to drag him off to the common room to listen to Bowie. It was actually Lily who snapped Remus out of his obliviousness and alerted him to his reality.
This was yet another reason Remus needed to distract himself. Since this newfound realization, it had been impossible for Remus to be in the same room as Sirius. He would stutter and make a fool of himself and die of embarrassment every time he was unable to form coherent sentences because he got distracted by Sirius' eyes. So, Remus was avoiding Sirius to not only preserve his dignity, but also to wait out this silly crush on his best friend.
The plan had been going fairly well so far, until Sirius strode through the portrait hole into the common room with James and Peter in tow. He and James were arguing about whatever but Sirius stopped short when he noticed Remus.
"Moony!! I've been looking everywhere for you. I feel like I haven't seen you in ages!" Sirius exclaimed as he made his way over to the armchair Remus was sat in.
"H-hey, Padfoot. I-I guess it has-erm, yes it's been a bit since I have seen you."
"I'll say! Scoot over, Moons, I'll tell you everything you missed from dinner."
Remus was in shock as Sirius simply squeezed in beside Remus in the armchair, going beet red when he tossed his legs over Remus' lap to make himself more comfortable. Sirius rambled on about whatever new prank idea he had, and Remus just sat there, trying not to combust.
