characters are montegracyn (she/her) or just monty, clemencia or mencie (she/her), ashival (she/her), and wolfwick (he/him).

so, montegracyn and clemencia are sisters. monty is kinda ur sad loner type? both her and mencie went through a lot in life, but monty refused to really heal, so she’s kinda run off by herself and now she’s a mercenary-for-hire. she’ll do anything for the right price, short of straight-up murder. her son is edmunathy, but she doesn’t really, like, have a mother-son relationship with him; she gave him up to her old friend, an elf named sey’miah, when he was just an egg. she still occasionally visits, though.
mencie is around a lot more. she’s the cool, chill aunt. when she was little she lost her left wing, eye, and front leg in a fight with rocs (which is also where monty got her shoulder scars from, and also where they lost their brother, bromalyn). she’s doing pretty ok nowadays, though.
ashival + wolfwick aren’t related by blood, but they’re best friends forever and may as well be siblings. in youth, they were part of this guild of knights (who were basically one big family), though they were mischievous little punks who were honestly sorta mean to their peers. then there was this big ol war between their guild and another faction who was trying to take everybody else over, which ended very, very badly; everybody in the guild was wiped out. ashival and wolfwick only survived because they chose a very... extreme means of escape and staying under the radar, which actually worked for several decades. after all, the magic in maekrenia is a fickle thing, and one is able to change their very essence if they’re desperate enough and talk to the right people.
