International Women’s Day: How Women are Expressing Themselves Through Weave Hair

To celebrate International Women’s Day 2021 we’ve rounded up a number of our contributors, also as past hair interviewees, that featured women who have found ways to celebrate their hair and use it as how to precise themselves. Read on below to urge inspired by these powerful women and should the force be with all women round the world this coming March 8th, and each day after that!

“I’ve had natural hair for seven years. At first, i used to be scared of how i might look with short kinky hair. Being on this journey, I even have learned such a lot about who i'm and what my culture is all about. As African Americans, we are shamed into thinking our hair has got to be a method and not embrace how versatile it actually are often . i'm not scared of who i'm because as women, we are strong creatures who are a force to be reckoned with… we just need to believe and never lose hope.”

“I love my hair enough to not feel trapped by it—don’t desire because you’ve invested such a lot time, money and thought into your hair that you simply need to like it in its current state. If you are feeling like trying something new, go for it. My Weave hair is flexible and resilient, a bit like me!”

“I spend my days visually aligning my clients with a perception, feeling or moment in life. at some point it’s a neon rainbow, subsequent it's going to be delicately playing up nature’s palette. Visually, they couldn’t be more different, but the arrogance and happiness they exude are always an equivalent . Witnessing transformations made me reconsider my very own expression through hair. In the past, i assumed i used to be exercising my freedom of expression, only to understand afterward i used to be following a trend. Do I let social constructs decide how a glance makes me feel? As a hair professional, should I look a particular way?

Eventually, I said, forget all of that, and now I wear my hair on behalf of me . Sometimes meaning letting my natural layered Hair go crazy or popping in extra fuchsia, or even this point around I’ll do violet.
