To be honest in day to day life My personal style often mixes contemporary clothing with vintage or antique pieces. This antique women’s hat with a fedora shape from the late 1910s has stuck with me for many years, but I’ve never had a decent photo of me wearing it before. I found it in a box at an estate sale full of items they were throwing away. All it’s original decorations had been harvested long ago by past owners, and I have left it as I found it rather than restoring it. Firm black straw base, trimmed in pleated silk organza, lining and label wonderfully intact. Which reads: Josan Model Chicago ILL. . Why has it stayed in my collection? I can’t lie, mostly because I rescued it from an early grave. But also it’s extremely wearable, and it transports me back to when I was 20, sitting on the floor of my first apartment, listening to Depeche mode.
