THE WONDER INTERVIEW WITH ZANE LOWE (Apple Music 2020)
shawn on his beef with the miami paparazzi 😂
Q: what time do you go to bed at night?
Shawn: see, now this is where I’m gonna sound a little weird. I go to bed like, usually around 8:30 to 9:30 is my time, such a grandpa time. I’m not even on stage by 8:30 , it’s become kind of a joke. between me and my friends an led yeah, no definitely... it’s pretty crazy, but they, there’s nowhere to go.
Q: what is your fitness regime? Have you been able to go to the gym and stay fit?
Shawn: No gym time, I’ve been doing workouts from in home, but I do a lot of yoga, I do way more yoga these days.
Q: what is your favorite snack?
Shawn: My Favorite snack is probably right now guacamole and chips. That’s for sure.
I: and the lastly I’d Iike to know what you smell like. What fragrance does shawn mendes use?
Shawn: yeah, my armpit when I work out, that definitely, that’s just like natural body. Eua shawn mendes, yeah and if that’s what you’re into them it smells great but... yeah, I wear this cologne from a place, it’s called Endymion cologne. I walked in to my bathroom to check that cologne.
Shawn on Smallzy
From a young age, I was like really shown what it feels like to have that gold, and that success and that glory. It’s addictive and you miss out on the most beautiful part which is the process. When you start to lean into that process, the end result comes around in this beautiful bow and it looks gorgeous and you’re really happy with it. You’re expecting this big thing to happen and it doesn’t happen but you’re okay.

“first of all i just wanna say that it’s insanely hard and to try to downplay the fact that it’s not (hard to deal with social media anxiety), it’s very wrong. no matter how wise or how many books you’ve read or how much you know about anxiety or whatever, it doesn’t change the fact that we live inside a social media ran world and it feels almost impossible to not participate in it and take care of yourself. all i’d say is that at some point you’re gonna realize, if you haven’t already, that you’re the only person you have to live with. at night time when everything goes quiet and you close your eyes, there’s only one person you’re left in that head and it’s you, and it’s your heart.
[...] there’s this sense of disassociation that people have with themselves because it’s a constant comparison with everybody else because of social media. i think this isn’t something that’s gonna change overnight for everyone, this is something that is a practice. start practicing that all you have is you and you need to have your own back because when you close your eyes and things goes quiet, it’s just you in there.
so whether it’s jouraling or whether it’s giving yourself an hour in the morning before you turn your phone on or an hour at night before you go to sleep or you turn off and let yourself kinda take care of you, start doing it now. it only gets harder the longer you do social media and the more you get inside of that world- and i think you can do both.
i think you can care about social media and be a part of it but at the same time understand that it doesn’t define you how many likes you have, it doesn’t define you how many followers you have. it really just matters if you like you, if you love you and it is probably oversaid and kinda overheard but i really just think it’s so important.
if there’s any kids listening or if there’s any teenagers listening or if there’s adults listening, i don’t think there’s an age to define how old or young you are to hear this. just be there for you and have your own back and love you, give yourself some credit and surrender a little bit because life is really hard. it’s really hard to just be human and on top of that we have to meet up all these standards of what we think we should be comparing to people’s highlight reels and just give yourself a break and take a breath. i think that specially in these times nothing is more important than that right now and moving forward it’s always gonna be the most important thing. you are the most important”
