“Reconstruction of Eden"  (series)

A series of print based on the sculptures i’m doing since 2011 as featured in  WONDEREUR, a multi-award-winning platform offering privileged access into the lives of artists to watch, whose stories are told in visual essays reminiscent of the golden age of photojournalism.  The page run a photo story entitled the Silent Fighter based on the photography of Magnum Fellow  Xysa Cruz Bacani picked by curator’ Dayang Yraola text edited by Doreen Dawang.

Artists are selected by top curators from around the world and, at the end of each story, readers can access the artist's work directly from their iPad, iPhone or computer.

Wondereur is an Official Honoree of the 2013 17th Webby Awards (alongside the New York Times, the Financial Times and Martha Stewart Living) and won the 2012 Gold Award for Best Tablet Edition at the Canadian Online Publishing Awards.

Why We Love The Art We Love // Globe and Mail / Wondereur “So we always had art in our house, kind of extraordinary art in fact... Kids would come home from school with me and there would be this thing over the fireplace that we had to deal with before we could do anything else.” - Sarah Milroy, art critic and curator, on growing up around art.

Last month, I had the privilege of photographing the lovely Sarah Milroy at the AGO for Wondereur as a part of a series in the Globe & Mail that explores the diversity of contemporary art. Milroy recently curated the exhibition From the Forest to the Sea: Emily Carr in British Columbia for the gallery, which runs until mid-August.

Created as a space to slow down, pay attention, be touched by, and fall in love with art, Wondereur in 2014 quickly grew into an international destination showcasing artists from 12 different countries - we’ll take you to even more unexpected territories in 2015.

Our belief in the importance of curators, our personal and direct approach to artists’ creative process, our faith in the power of photojournalism, and most importantly our quest for geographical, curatorial and medium diversity will continue to be our guide for 2015.

WONDEREUR NO.94

“It started from a scholarship I did. I went to Berlin in 2011, and I’m not sure why, but there I began painting squares. I started to get into geometry.”

Wondereur No.94 presents the reinvigorated minimalism of a surf-loving mystery artist. These interactive and process-based artworks manipulate traditional materials like paint, wood and tape to create a meditative and engaging experience for the viewer. Wondereur No. 94 is curated by Marc Azoulay, Studio Director for JR in New York.
