Introductions to wool and end of crochet research!! These last few weeks experimenting with crocheting and expanding my knowledge of this technique was so fun, but also challenging. I found myself a lot of the time starting something, only to unravel it if it didn't turn out how I wanted it too. So at the end of this, I wish I would've stuck to a lot of the things I started to really get a good idea of what I was creating and what I still needed to work on. Nonetheless, I had a lot of fun in the process.
Experimenting with wool this week was very challenging however. I struggled a lot with keeping the fabric too tight and it became extremely difficult to create something of a larger size. I also struggled with the coarse texture and often kept getting stuck on knots. However, I'm motivated to keep trying and working on this tougher fabrics.
Start of the Group Project!! I am so excited to start this group project with Brooke. Both of us knew that we wanted to do something to help with anxiety, or at least use that as our target audience. We had a hard time narrowing it down because we knew that we wanted to target college students, specifically art students, but didn't want it to look too childish. We did a lot of research of artists, the way our brains work, and what would help to relieve their stress. We found that artists right side of the brain is more commonly activated and often things of repetition help to relieve anxiety. We decided to create a jellyfish stress toy, with moveable spiral tentacles. Below are some of our inspo pics. The repetitive movement of the tentacles and the spiral shape, we think, will be enough to relieve anxiety among art students.

Working with wool!! I was really excited to start stitching with pieces of wool and understanding how to make art from this fabric! Since I had trouble creating large enough pieces from wool yarn, I decided to attach the fabric to the stitched pieces of wool to see how the decide to co-exist with each other.
AND of course my braids..so cute :)
