2024 WIP -projects
So this is my dashboard right now for the projects/events I want to participate, along with a couple of original works...
I already wrote 854 words in the first 10 days of the year, so... I think I'll freaking out soon :) Maybe I'll try to update montly that list and if you want you can ask me some sample of the stories already started.

It's that time again: time for me to tell you about my absolute favourite FREE FREE ABSOLUTELY FREE FOREVER tool to help you track your writing goals in 2022 (and forever).
Word Keeper Alpha is free. There's no pro upgrade paid version. All the features are right there in the free version. It's made by one dude, Seth, who will totally troubleshoot for you if you're having any difficulties... just tag him on Twitter.
I'm on day 1,826 of my current writing streak. Some days I write one sentence, sometimes it's 5,000 words, but I have written for every single one of those days, and WKA has helped me track it. Keeping that streak going is a HUGE motivational tool for me.

It’s wordkeeperalpha.com and I could not live without it. Being somewhat ADD, I tend to bounce between projects and often work on 3 or more in any given day. I try to aim for 500 words on each but often only get a couple hundred down before getting stuck and moving on.
WKA means I can keep track of all those words without complicated spreadsheets. You enter your project, projected word count and goal finish date and it will project how many words per day you need to average. Then when you’ve written words, you just pick the project from the dropdown list, enter the number of words and click the date.
You can set word goals for particular projects with date ranges (eg I want to write 10 K on THIS book before 30 May) and see on a progress bar how you’re going.
My productivity has SOARED since I started using this app. Of course, my graphs look like a mess, but you can’t have everything :D

It’s WordkeeperAlpha, which is one of those apps I could not live without. I set goals and update my writing targets in it, and add my word count every time I finish a writing session. For an ADHD writer like myself who jumps about between projects like a frog on a hot rock, it’s the only way to keep track of actual daily word count.
hi! so first of all, I am IN AWE of your yearly word count (dear god) and so congrats on meeting your goal and being an amazing writer! esp for working through things that were hard without giving up, bc that's probably the best sign of strength in my mind! secondly, I'm having trouble with how to count words - for example, this year I was writing a fic and it got really long so I divided it up into diff docs and edited them there, how does one count that? etc, just misc word counting advice?
Thank you! I still don’t feel like I write that much? Like... it’s not like I’m having 10K days or whatever. On average, I write just under 1500/day. It’s all about being consistent and trying to write every day or as close to it as possible.
Which brings me to your question. I use wordkeeperalpha to keep track of my word count. I’ve written about it here. It does depend on you logging your words every night, but then it does all the math for you.
You would just create a project for this fic, and then any time you wrote words in any of the documents that make up the story, you could punch that amount into wordkeeperalpha. So maybe some nights you’d have small numbers from three different documents if you jumped around a lot, and WKA would make it look like it was all from one project. Because it is.
Alternately, you could create a spreadsheet to do the math for you. Date column down the left side, columns for each separate document, then a tally column on the right side that adds up the row.
