Published when he was just 24 years old, his 1962 debut novel, “A Different Drummer,” saw him compared to “an impressive range of literary greats, from William Faulkner to Isaac Bashevis Singer to James Baldwin. ______ Words @Weeksville Throughout Weeksville's 180-year history, the written word has been interwoven throughout every era. From it's 19th century newspaper, The Freedman's Torchlight to our annual poetry slam, literary arts has a home here at Weeksville. Words@Weeksville is a new monthly literary series consisting of both a reading series and an adult writing workshop, curated by Bridgett M. Davis, author and the director of Sidney Harman Writer-in-Residence Program at Baruch College. The adult writing workshops offer aspiring writers the opportunity to work on craft in a group setting with an published author. The fee for the two-hour workshop is $20 and participants will receive a copy of the writer’s book.
