Summer show with Mr Blue today. Which was eventually wonderful.
We had gone with the intention of only doing the working hunter. But they were running late, so we did a 60cm show jumping class first (once I'd borrowed a saddle from someone else, as I may have forgotten to put my girth in the van 🙈). He was utterly awful in the warm up, bucking before and after every jump. In the ring jumped the first fine. Second is downhill, towards the gate, head went down, back end went up. Got over it, followed by a small tantrum from the rider 😳. Got a good kick up the arse from my trainer who was stewarding the next door ring, and did the rest of the ride walking between each damn jump. But still jumping everything.
I was all for throwing in the towel, but was told to stop being such an idiot and get on with it. So we did the working hunter. Damn pony was perfect. We still did it in trot, but he cleared everything. Flower boxes, mushrooms and teeny skinny things surrounded by gorse. Scored 18/20 for his jumping style and an amazing 19/20 on his confirmation. I let him down really in our show, just because I didn't really know what I was doing, and he bucked his way through the canter. But damn, looks like I might have a working hunter pony?
So eventually it was good. And thankful for people to kick me up the arse when I need it!
