The trunk of an elephant ! Can you believe that an elephant’s trunk alone has up to 40,000 muscles? A human has little more than 600 muscles in the entire body. Elephants have always been fascinating animals to me since my childhood. I love watching elephants for hours even now. In fact, I used to wonder about the trunk and the elegant way elephants use it. Elephants use their trunks to help them suck up water for drinking, pick up or touch objects, trumpet warnings, and greet one another. Today, 12th August is World Elephant Day. Let us spread awareness about the preservation of ‘gentle giants’, their protection, and threats including poaching, mistreatment in captivity, and habitat loss. This shot of the trunk of an elephant was captured in one of the temples in Tamil Nadu. Temple elephants are trained to collect money for greeting people! Let us leave elephants to live in their habitat, for after all elephants are not dependent on us. Every living thing has some unique body parts!..and for elephants, the trunk is one. Bottom line: Let us observe and appreciate nature's creations and highlight them in our photos. Learn to see the world around series Learn the Art of seeing. Call 9444441190 for more details.
