Types Of People: Cities (Part I)
New York:
Has a jaded world view, black coffee, still reads the newspaper, has a very specific wine preference, witty, manicured nails wrapped around a cigarette, leaves lipstick stains on coffee cups, always on their phone, Chanel No. 5, mature mindset, insomnia, always on trend, black and white films, the sound of high heels on sidewalks, always busy.
London:
Goes to civil rights protests, drinks a lot of tea, can be a little blunt, everyone thinks they’ve got their shit together but they’re just making it up as they go, Indie Pop, eyebrows on point, black skinny jeans, has a really cool apartment/flat, exposed brick, small and meaningful tattoos, suede, collects something like coins or antique keys, iced coffee addict.
Paris:
Boss at accessorising, flavoured cigarette papers, rose petal baths, likes poetry, breakfast pastries, most likely a Libra, old romance movies, nude pink lipstick, Rosé, macarons, colourful sunsets, plush eyelashes, pencil sketches, soft curves, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin, prefers baths over showers, had a pet cat with a unique name.
Amsterdam:
Rides their bike everywhere, philosophy major, spends their life in cafes, freckles, stargazing, hair braids, foodie, strong believer in freedom, soft spoken but strong willed, kanken backpack, peace signs in Instagram posts, recycled and eco friendly materials, denim or corduroy overalls, the colour yellow, youthful facial features, can rock a beanie.
Sydney:
Longs to be famous one day, aesthetic Instagram posts, selfie game on point, sea salt spray, rompers and jumpsuits, loves the city life, the party don’t start till they walk in, knows everyone and has connections, drinks champagne for all occasions, bold lipstick choices, appears superficial but deeply cares about their friends and family, beaming smiles.

Rising seas could affect three times more people by 2050 than previously thought, according to new research, threatening to all but erase some of the world’s great coastal cities. The authors of a paper published Tuesday developed a more accurate way of calculating land elevation based on satellite readings, a standard way of estimating the effects of sea level rise over large areas, and found that the previous numbers were far too optimistic. The new research shows that some 150 million people are now living on land that will be below the high-tide line by midcentury.
