[ Bioluminescent Forest prompt | can be a thread or a one-off ] The broad-shouldered paladin felt lost. How had they gotten here? How had they even ENDED UP here? He had been trying to fiddle with one of Kaldius' old portals, and now they were... where? A planet? Finnigan turned his horrified gaze to Liv, but it was difficult to keep the wonder out of his eyes. "Where are we?"
(( I am SO DOWN for making this a thread if you want! ))
Olivier got to her feet, brushing leaves off of her knees and lifted her gaze to her surroundings, studying them with awe. She’d been more than ready to help Finn with the portals, as she’d been working to practice telemancy between worlds, although she’d fallen behind on it due to the hope that she wouldn’t ever need it. Suddenly, she remembered Kaldius’s - or Krath’ul’s - refusal to teach her and scowled, finally knowing why he hadn’t been so eager to give her any extra means of escape. She turned her attention again to the forest around them, eyes growing wide.
The forest was practically glowing, the bioluminescent chemicals running through the trees and plants like veins. Spots of blue, green, and purple blossomed in the roots and ran along the leaves, lighting up the cool night. Soft blue lights floated between the trees like wisps, though upon closer inspection they seemed to be insects, falling in and out of light as they traveled. There was little sound aside from the gentle rushing of the breeze, and the breathing of the two who had accidentally found their way here.
“I have no idea,” the mage breathed out at long last, wishing she’d brought her pack along. “But that felt like a little farther than a trip between continents.”
