Hugh notes the passing of Richie Benaud, 84, a brilliant (and sometimes controversial) Australian cricketer who turned to journalism and cricket commentary after he retired from the game. Benaud began his professional career in 1948, and retired in 1964.
‘On his retirement, he was the only Test cricketer to have achieved the double of 2000 runs and 200 wickets. His Australian bowling record of 248 wickets would stand until broken by Dennis Lillee in 1981-82 . . .
