His lips pursed uncomfortably for a flash. When she had first divulged she was pregnant, John was not the most congratulatory voice in the room. He was shocked but even more he was worried. There were few people who knew how he felt about his team, his family, and knowing she had been putting herself and her unborn child in danger was too much for him to remain cool. He decided though, her friendship was far more important than being upset by her keeping it a secret. “You ...excited?” he asked with a smile.
@wraithsensing - she is a wonderful Teyla. The way she writes her is so spot on I almost think she might actually BE Teyla. I know she's got a lot of stuff going on and she isn't always on but I hope everyone else is just as excited as I am when I see her posting. John looked down at her hand. The gesture was reassuring despite the normal physical distance he kept, even with his friends. He gave her a shrug as if it didn’t matter either way, but he was grateful of Teyla’s words. She always had a way of making things seem...okay. “I’m not ashamed. I’m just mentally kicking myself for being a dumbass.”
The Stargate burst into life on the peaceful world of Athos, just as it had many times over the years, ready to disgorge either a Wraith feeding party or a simple trading mission or any other of the travellers who had used the gate in recent years.
But no Athosian would have ever seen the like of what emerged from the gate. Rather than traders from other worlds or even a Wraith dart, there instead emerged a full squad of armoured figures, carrying great staff like weapons, who proceeded to round up the two young figures who emerged from the woods, and only just avoiding shooting their panicking father when he ran out a moment later.
Standing behind the advancing Jaffa was a figure in black armour, obviously in command, calling out in a heavily distorted voice. "We shall proceed to the settlement, find me the leader of this world."
