OTP questions: 13, 14, 18, and 26 for Vasili/Quinn?
13: Which one likes to surprise the other with a lot of small random gifts?
They both like to about equally, but Malavai tends to actually do it more often. It drives Vasili a little crazy because he knows the man doesn’t have a huge amount of disposable income, and yet he spends an inordinate amount spoiling him anyway… (He does very much like it, make no mistake. Malavai is exceptional at making him feel special.) It’s usually very small trinkets that don’t take up much room on the ship, and they both (usually) aim to get one another practical gifts. There are definitely still some bursts of completely impractical sappiness too, though.
14: Which one keeps accidentally using the other’s last name instead of their own?
“”“Accidentally.”“” That’s a funny joke right there. :p It’s hard for Vasili to pass it off as unintentional, since Chiss names are so different from human ones, but there were definitely a few times where he introduced himself with Malavai’s last name just to see how/if he’d react. (And a couple of less culturally aware Imperials totally bought it too, which amuses and exasperates Vasili in equal measure.) This had the intended effect of flustering Malavai considerably, though he tries not to look or act flustered in front of others, and the somewhat unexpected side effect of kicking off a conversation of how they would even manage the question of last names if they were to marry. (Given that Vasili forfeit his merit adoption when he became Sith, they eventually agree that Malavai would become Quinn-Alkaev, and Vasili would end up with the slightly cumbersome Alkaev'asil'quinn. Whether or not he’d take up a different core name, he never really decided.)
18: Who’s the first one to admit they have feelings for the other?
I still haven’t quite decided how I’m going to play it out in Warrior’s Fortune, but in all likelihood, Vasili. Either he blurted it out completely by accident, mumbled it in his sleep, or used it as the bargaining chip to keep Malavai from requesting reassignment. (Which, I suppose, would technically mean Malavai said something first… but it would be the difference between “I’ve been thinking about you a lot and it’s affecting my work” and “you are home to me but a person I think I’m in love with you please don’t go.” Malavai implies, Vasili puts every single one of his cards on the table and prays it doesn’t somehow backfire,)
26: Who takes a selfie when the other one falls asleep on their shoulder?
I would say Vasili, but honestly, he’s more likely to be the one falling asleep on Malavai; the boy tends to push himself to a stupor once he really gets going. Malavai doesn’t exactly take selfies, to that end—he’s rarely the focus of the holos he takes if/when he does get a snapshot—rather, he prefers to take a quick shot of his lover enjoying a rare moment of peace. It’s refreshing to see him so relaxed, and sometimes he’ll go back and look at those little snapshots when he needs a smile.(They do occasionally take selfies together, though, but those are 100% Vasili’s idea, and they’re usually to the effect of “just landed on Hoth w/ the babe #chisslife #nofilter”. There are a metric crapton from their various museum dates, because Vasili likes to take them to capture the lightest moments of their lives, and he’s happiest when he’s with his lover, surrounded by old things and bigass rocks.)
